Although I have a 2019 Outback, last year I experienced 2 broken windshields. Both were from rock strikes. In the first instance, the crack traveled to a distance of more than two feet in a matter of days.
The second time, there was immediate expansion. I put the first replacement through insurance, which still cost me $500 CDN, and the second one was $1500. That's a lot of money to put in to windshields in one year.
