A video has surfaced online from a non-General Motors YouTube account showing what is alleged to be the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in action on the Milford Proving Grounds, with the video captured via the Performance Data Recorder system – although we don’t get to see a full lap.

Yesterday we reported that the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat had turned the quickest lap among 4-door cars in their years Car & Driver Lightning Lap shootout and after digging deeper into the results of one of the most rigorous track tests in the industry, I found that the Tesla Model S P85D was also in the competition – and it didn’t do very well at all.

The results for the 2016 Car & Driver Lightning Lap are in and both of the Ford vehicles in the field turned in solid times – with the new Shelby GT350T turning in the 2nd best time ever among American muscle cars and the quickest time ever for the LL2 class while the new Ford Focus RS set the best time ever by a 4-cylinder car in the 10 years of the Lightning Lap shootout.

The folks at Car & Driver have published the results of their 2016 Lightning Lap tests at Virginia International Raceway and among the most impressive cars on the track were the new Corvette Grand Sport and both of the new 1LE Camaros – with the V6 model nearly matching the new all-wheel drive Ford Focus RS.

After all of the talk about the All-Wheel Drive Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat in the past two weeks, I polled the folks on the large Hellcat Group and asked if they would have gotten an AWD Hellcat when they purchased their cars, and the results were pretty evenly split between the “yes” and “no” camps.

After a bunch of outlets misread or simply disregarded the information on the upcoming Dodge Challenger all-wheel drive and American Drag Racing models, it was incorrectly reported that the Challenger street legal drag racing package would have all-wheel drive, but that is incorrect – as has been clarified by the folks at Automotive News.
