The long wait to see the next Tacoma will soon be over.

There are a great many rumors as to what will debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, but the newest rumor suggests that a new SVT Raptor based on the aluminum bodied 2015 Ford F150 will be among the high performance premiers in the Motor City come January.

Motor Trend is certainly spreading the Truck of the Year Award around, but Ford losing this one is a shocker.

The full fuel economy figures for the 2015 Ford F150 pickup have been released on the EPA website and with figures of 19mpg city, 26mpg highway and 22mpg combined for the new 2.7L EcoBoost V6, the 2015 F150 is officially the most fuel efficient gas powered half ton pickup on the market.

Neither Ford Motor Company nor the EPA have announced the official fuel economy numbers for the 2015 F150, but the folks at Motor Trend have announced their numbers from the first round of testing with the 2.7L EcoBoost and surprisingly, this new engine falls well short of the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel.

Ford Motor Company is expecting the 2015 F150 ever and if the demand increases enough from what we saw last year when Ford sold over 763k trucks, the automaker might run into a problem meeting the demand for F150 pickups with their current production plan.

Production of the all-new 2015 Ford F150 officially began at the automakers Rouge Assembly Plant this morning and as the first aluminum Ford trucks roll off of the assembly line and enter the early quality control phase, consumers can expect to see these trucks at their local dealership sometime next month.

The jurors for the North American Car and Truck of the Year award have announced their short list and, not surprisingly, both the 2015 Ford F150 and the 2015 Ford Mustang are included – and I fully expect to see Ford Motor Company claim both titles with their groundbreaking half ton pickup and sports car.

The final preparations for 2015 Ford F150 production is currently underway at the Rouge River Assembly plant and that means that the all-new F150 will be reaching dealerships soon, but even with all of the upsides of the lightweight half ton pickups, “expert analysts” continue to preach of the many downsides of the new aluminum body – all of which will be quickly forgotten once these trucks are in the hands of consumers around the US.

One of my regular readers emailed me the picture above of a 2015 Ford F150 Lightning rendering, asking me if it something like this is coming and while I don’t know if we are likely to see a new Lightning for the new model year – this image definitely shows that the 2015 F150 could be converted into one great looking sport truck.
