I live in Minneapolis I've never seen any car on the road air filter plug up because of snow and how can snow build up on the engine when the engine is very hot that doesn't happen in real life driven in many snow storms poped the hood to fill up washer fluid no snow anywhere engine clean as a whistle and air filter just fine

Perhaps it doesn't happen to you because of testing like this, and most vehicles - not performance vehicles pull air from a shielded area - the front upper driver's side fender for example. The Mustang is pulling air directly from the front, as does the Camaro. For that reason they need to do this type of testing. Interestingly while living in Indiana I drove in a blizzard and had enough snow build up on my radiator that the vehicle was starting to over heat. The snow had turned to ice just in in front of the radiator as wasn't allowing air to pass through. However each to his own, next time you go to buy a car perhaps you should ask for one that hasn't been extensively tested to not fail in any conceivable scenario....
