Chevy Bolt News, Reviews and Pricing

The Chevy Bolt EV is the first all-electric car offered by General Motors. Preceded by the much-loved plug-in hybrid Chevy Volt, Chevrolet introduced the Bolt EV in late 2016 as the first affordable long-range electric vehicle release in North America. The model has gone on to sell more than 50,000 units since then, at a time when electric vehicles remain only a small fraction of the North American market. The car is currently sold in the following two trim levels, with various safety and comfort packages available:

  • Chevy Bolt EV LT: MSRP - $36,620
  • Chevy Bolt EV Premier: MSRP - $41,020

In terms of the all-important range, the Chevy Bolt EV is capable of traveling an EPA estimated 238 miles on a single charge, although many owners report getting more than 300 miles in ideal conditions. The Bolt EV is powered by a 60kWh lithium-ion battery pack that produces 200 HP and delivers 266 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough to hit a 0-60mph time of 6.5 seconds, which puts this EV’s performance much closer to “hot-hatch” territory than the simple sub-compact cars to which it is often compared.

Despite having a raft of competitors - most notably the Tesla Model 3 - enter the marketplace since its launch in 2016, the Bolt EV continues to sell in steady numbers. The Chevy Bolt EV provides a practical, affordable alternative to other all-electric options available in the United States and Canada.
