Last night a prominent Tesla blogger Whole Mars Catalog wrote on X that in his opinion Tesla needs to release the latest version of FSD to everyone so more people can see how good it is.
To this Elon Musk replied with a question and gave some insightful details about where Tesla is these days with its latest version of the FSD Beta full-self driving update.
"You mean 11.4.7? That should be going to wide release within a week. Version 12, which is an almost total rewrite (~99% AI) is being tested by our QA drivers. Too much new code to go to the public yet, but it is mind-blowing imo," Musk wrote about 4 hours prior to this writing.
Here is his X (tweet)

Tesla FSD now already is so far ahead, that experts can't understand it.
Would you trust your driving safety to AI? Note that Musk says the V2 of Tesla FSD will be nearly 99 percent AI. I'd be curious to know how the AI was trained to drive for V12. We know how it works for things like chatGPT, but driving a car in the real world is next level. Did you use test drivers as subjects for the AI to mimic and learn from over extended periods?
European Tesla drivers also are very much interested in FSD improvements, asking Elon if they can expect improvements in Europe before the DCAS Regulation comes into effect (which according to one X user "hopefully happens early next year"), or will Tesla wait until FSD Beta is allowed in Europe?
They also ask about Tesla's full-self driving plan for Europe.
"Once it's ready, what's the plan for Europe? Will it launch country by country or be available all over Europe at once? Which country is next?" asks an X user with @elektrotimmy handle.
Under Elon's comment, Tesla FSD owners and automotive enthusiasts ask some legitimate questions. For example, how do you re-write ~99% of something that was supposed to be complete by the end of the year?
You know, Musk is sometimes overly optimistic about how fast technical problems can be solved. But that’s part of his car-building innovative talent. He uses aggressive timelines to motivate himself and others. The first step to solving a difficult problem is to grossly underestimate its difficulty.
"It is mind-blowing" has no meaning anymore. He’s said this about every version for years. I want FSD to succeed, but the goal post gets moved every few months. I wonder how much revenue they’ve generated from all the hype?" writes another X user, with @greentexan2063 handle.
Many Tesla FSD versions have been referred to as "mind-blowing". Do you really expect the V12 Tesla FSD to be a huge change, or just more of the same? Please, let me know, and let's have a discussion on the future of Tesla FSD and the future of driving in general in the comments section below.
Keep in mind, that Tesla's FSD Beta already showcases impressive autonomy potential.
