The 2015 Ford Mustang is the first to be marketed in the Chinese market and with the Year of the Horse on the Chinese calendar coming to an end recently, the Motor Company jumped on the chance to create a video tying in the Year of the Horse and the next generation pony car. To do so, Ford took a 2015 Mustang GT and drift racing champ Vaughn Gittin Jr to Ordos City, an area known as China’s Ghost City.
Mustang GT in China’s Ghost City
This new video showing Vaughn Gittin Jr tearing it up on the streets of China in the 2015 Ford Mustang GT shows no other vehicles. We see a horseman riding his horse in a variety of settings and we see some of the beautiful horse-themed architecture of Ordos City. Gittin strolls across a courtyard and under a massive statue of two rearing horses, giving us a great look at the ornate city.
The Mustang driving drift champ then climbs into a 2015 Mustang GT, blasting out of a garage as he shows off the high speed sliding capabilities of the 435hp pony car. Gittin drifts around a large courtyard and then hits streets, roaring down the empty roadways of Ordos. After a short cutaway with the 2015 Mustang GT running side by side with a horseman of Ordos along with a few other shots of horse themed artwork. After a crazy u-turn on a bridge, Vaughn slides the new Mustang around a couple more turns and does a big, nasty burnout.
This is a fitting tribute to the Year of the Horse while also showing off the Mustang’s high performance capabilities in grand fashion.
China’s Ghost City
While this video may look like a city that has been temporarily shut down for the filming of the video, Ordos City is nearly abandoned, so there is a good chance that there were really no other people around for the filming of the 2015 Ford Mustang video below.

Ordos City sits in the Ordos Desert in Inner Mongolia, China. With the massive population growth rates in China and the need for more developed areas, Ordos City was constructed to be the next incredible Chinese metropolis. Unfortunately, the development program stalled and as a result, many of the buildings in the area were never completed. Because of this, the city intended to house roughly a million people only has about 20,000 residents and due to the halted growth, those who did move to the new city a few years back are now looking to get out of what has slowly become a ghost town. It was a failure for the developers, but it makes for one incredible playground for Vaughn Gittin Jr and the 2015 Mustang GT so crank up your speakers and enjoy!
