2019 Shelby Super Snake Mustang Delivers 800 Horsepower

The 2018 Ford Mustang GT got a new look and more power, so it comes as little surprise that the 2018 version of the Shelby Super Snake also gets a new look and more power – with the total output reaching a whopping 800 horsepower.

Over the course of the past few years, Shelby American has been offering their Super Snake post-title package for the Ford Mustang GT. For the 2018 model year, the Shelby Super Snake follows the same basic design as the previous model years, but it makes use of the added power and the new exterior design to stand apart from the 2015-2017 Super Snake.

2018 Super Snake
The highest performance package from Shelby American for the 2018 Ford Mustang GT begins on the outside, where the team adds a body that replaces most-to-all of the standard body parts. In standard form, the Super Snake features a unique front fascia, hood, side skirts, rear fascia, rear spoiler, and rear diffuser, but if you opt for the widebody package – the quarter panels and fenders are unique as well.

The appearance portion of the package also includes package-specific logo and stripes, a Shelby taillight blackout panel and unique wheels.

Next, the Shelby team tweaks the suspension for improved handling and proper control of the added power, while a Brembo braking package with six-piston front calipers, four-piston rear calipers and huge rotors all-around handling the stopping work.

Finally, the Super Snake package has two power options – one with 710 horsepower and a second with 800 horsepower. From 2015-2017, power topped out at 750, but for 2018, the max rating rises to 800 horsepower – enough power to allow this car to dash from 0-60 in 3.5 seconds.

Rare and Expensive
As is always the case, Shelby American will only build a small number of 2018 Super Snake Mustangs, but production numbers aren’t what will make these cars rare. When you factor in the cost of the Ford Mustang GT on which the Super Snake is built, this car has a price in the range of $120,000. At that price, it costs nearly twice as much as the 650 horsepower Camaro ZL1 or the 707 horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, but for the Mustang fan who wants monster power – this is one of the best options on the market today.
