2020 Dodge Challenger: All 19 Option Packages Detailed

When the 2020 Dodge Challenger official goes on sale later this year, it will be offered with 19 different option packages across the model lineup and today, we take a look at every one of them.

One of the key reasons that the Dodge Challenger has been able to maintain its popularity in the marketplace as the competition slumps comes from the fact that the company goes to great lengths to give buyers exactly what they want. That is why there are so many different trim levels, but it is also why Dodge is the only company to offer their muscle car with all-wheel-drive or 797 horsepower.

Inside, outside and under the hood, the Dodge Challenger offers a tremendous amount of optional features, leading to a great many trim levels and option packages. Since all of those packages can be a bit confusing, here is a rundown of each of the 19 packages that will be available for the 2020 Dodge Challenger when it goes on sale later this year. Due to the number of packages and the fact that so many of them are available across multiple trim levels, rather than take a level-by-level look, we will examine them based on where each package has the biggest impact – with a category for elaborate packages that were once models, along with interior, exterior, performance and those packages which add items inside and out.

2020 Dodge Challenger Models-Turned-Packages
In the past, the Dodge Challenger T/A and Shaker were each their own trim levels, as were the Widebody models. In fact, the Dodge website still breaks the Widebody out as its own trim level while you have to select the T/A, Shaker and 1320 builds as packages within the configurator. These are by far the most elaborate option packages for 2020 and they could be their own trim levels, but in any case, they are all still available for the new model year.

The 2020 Dodge Challenger 1320 package is only offered on the R/T Scat Pack and the odds are good that if you are familiar with the name, you know what makes it special. This car is built for the drag strip, coming from the factory with the Drag Mode adaptive damping suspension, a TransBrake, the Torque Reserve system, Nexen drag radial tires, 20 x 9.5-inch drag wheels with knurled beads, a unique performance pages system, Houndstooth cloth performance seat, a passenger seat belt delete, a rear seat delete, 1320 illuminated Air Catcher headlamp, 1320 instrument panel badge, Angry Bee fender badge and an Alcantara performance steering wheel.

The 2020 Challenger R/T and Scat Pack can both be equipped with the Shaker package once again, which adds the Shaker hood system with a Mopar cold air intake, the familiar "Shaker" under hood decal, Gloss Black instrument panel cluster trim rings, Black grille surround and "Challenger" script grille badge on the passenger’s side HVAC vent. On R/T Shaker models, there is also a black rear spoiler, a dash plaque and the black fuel door while Scat Pack Shaker models get unique fender badging.

The Challenger T/A returns for 2020 as well, also being offered for the R/T and Scat Pack models. This package adds a satin black hood, roof and decklid, a Mopar cold-air intake system similar to the one on the Shaker cars, illuminated Air Catcher headlamps, a functional hood scoop, a black grille, T/A bodyside graphics, a black spoiler with T/A spoiler decal, white face instrument panel cluster and gloss black instrument panel cluster trim rings. The R/T T/A also comes with 20x9-inch low gloss black wheels and a black fuel door while the Scat Pack T/A comes with unique 392 fender badging, all-season performance tires and 20x9.5-inch low gloss black forged wheels.

Finally, the Widebody package is available for the 2020 Dodge Challenger in Scat Pack, Hellcat and Hellcat Redeye form. In the Hellcat and Redeye, this package adds the unique body layout, the competition suspension setup and 305/35/ZR20 all-season performance tires wrapped around low gloss black aluminum wheels measuring 20x11-inches. The Scat Pack Widebody also comes with the wider body, the wider wheels and the uniquely tuned suspension, but the Scat Pack also gains the adaptive suspension setup and the Brembo six-piston front brake setup, both of which are standard on the Hellcat and Redeye models.

2020 Challenger Performance Upgrade Packages
Aside from those elaborate packages above, the 2020 Dodge Challenger is offered with a handful of option packages that improve performance, each of which are detailed below.

The Dynamics Package is offered only for the 2020 Challenger Scat Pack and it essentially adds the wheels, tires and brakes from the Hellcat to the Scat Pack models. This includes 15.4-inch front rotors under 6-piston calipers up front and 13.8-inch rotors under 4-piston calipers out back, all of which are from Brembo, along with 20x9.5-inch low gloss black wheels wrapped in 275-wide all-season performance tires.

Next, those folks buying the Challenger GT or R/T can add the Performance Handling Group, which includes a performance braking system, high-performance suspension, 20-inch “Lights Out” wheels wrapped in 245/45ZR20 all-season performance tires, performance-tuned steering and a 3.90 rear axle in manual models (R/T only) or a 3.09 rear axle in automatic models.

Also, those Challenger R/T buyers who get the Performance Handling Group can also add the Performance Plus Group, which includes the 20x9.5-inch wheels and 275/40ZR20 Pirelli summer performance tires from the Hellcat model.

2020 Challenger Exterior Packages
There are only two packages that focus on the exterior of the 2020 Challenger, one of which is available only on supercharged models and one that is offered on every model.

The Painted Black Satin Graphics Package is offered on the 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and Redeye, adding a painted hood, roof and trunk lid.

The Technology Group Package is available on every 2020 Dodge Challenger, and it includes rain-sensing windshield wipers, auto high-beam headlamp control, Forward Collision Warning and adaptive cruise control. The Forward Collision Warning and adaptive cruise are only available on models with the automatic transmission and adaptive cruise is not available on the Redeye.

2020 Challenger Interior Packages
Between the doors is where the 2020 Dodge Challenger has the most available options, with 7 packages being offered across the lineup.

The Alcantara Appearance Package is available on the Challenger Hellcat and Redeye, adding Alcantara suede and premium Laguna leather seats with SRT Hellcat logo and power four-way lumbar adjust, as well as a “Wildwheel” Alcantara steering wheel in those models with the Plus Group that we will discuss later in the piece.

If you are buying a 2020 Challenger Hellcat or Redeye and you don’t care for Alcantara, you can also pick the Laguna Leather Group package, which adds Laguna leather-wrapped seats with the embossed SRT Hellcat logo, but this also requires the Plus Group.

The Alpine Audio Group is available on all naturally aspirated models (so no Hellcat or Redeye), adding nine premium Alpine speakers including a subwoofer, all of which are driven by a 506-watt amplifier.

The Cold Weather Group package is offered on the SXT, SXT AWD, GT, GT AWD and R/T, adding heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and a 180-amp alternator.

 2020 Dodge Challenger

The Harman Kardon Audio Group is not available on the SXT models, but everyone else who is ordering a 2020 Dodge Challenger can opt up to this package, adding a Harman Kardon 900-watt amplifier, 18 premium speakers and tire service kit instead of a spare tire.

The Mopar Interior Appearance Group is available on the 2020 Dodge Challenger SXT, GT, R/T and Scat Pack, excluding all-wheel-drive models and the supercharged trim levels. This package adds a trunk mat, bright door sills, premium floor mats with logo and the bright pedal kit.

If you are getting a 2020 Dodge Challenger in any of the Hemi-powered trim levels, you can get the Rear Seat Delete Group package, which removes the rear seat, the seat belts and the other items associated with the rear seat.

2020 Dodge Challenger Interior/Exterior Packages
Finally, there are a few option packages for the 2020 Dodge Challenger which add items inside and out, including the Plus Group that is mentioned above a few times.

The Blacktop Package is available on the 2020 Challenger in SXT, SXT AWD, GT, GT AWD and R/T form, adding some different features depending on the trim level chosen. All models with this package benefit from a gloss black instrument panel cluster with black trim rings, a black grille with Challenger Blacktop badge, a black rear spoiler, a black fuel door and 20-inch “Black Noise” wheels wrapped in 245/45ZR20 all-season performance tires. The SXT Blacktop package includes a leather performance steering wheel, the GT Blacktop package adds unique grille badging and the R/T Blacktop comes with a unique grille badge and Hemi fender badges.

The Driver Convenience Group package is offered on every 2020 Dodge Challenger and it also varies based on trim level. HID headlamps, Blind-spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Path detection and power multifunction foldaway mirrors come as part of the package on every model. The Challenger SXT also benefits from some items that are standard on pricier models, including fog lamps, the ParkSense rear park assist system, a remote start system and a universal garage door opener while the Challenger R/T with this package sports a set of illuminated Air Catcher headlights.

Finally, every 2020 Dodge Challenger can be equipped with the Plus Group, which varies quite a bit based on the trim level. Below, you will find a breakdown of the package for each trim level. Keep in mind that in some cases, features of the Plus Group for one package may not appear on another package because that feature is standard on one trim level and not the other. I Really like the Leather seats in the Hellcat. Is there any way to order those when building a Fully Loaded Scat Pack vehicle?

Love my 2020 Octane Red R/T with a 6spd with 3'90 gears. I've only had it for 2 months so I haven't taken it to the track since I only have 3k miles. But I have no trouble clicking off 0 to 60 in low 5's. And the Pirelli summer tires were struggling to find traction. Not to mention I have almost every option - The Shaker & T/A packages. Being a old drag racer from the 70's I'm pretty confident My R/T will be in the Mid to high 13's when I take it out next summer.
