When you first open the 2013 Jaguar F -Type build site, you are prompted to pick between the three available trimlines – the F-Type, the F-Type S and the F-Type V8 S. The base F-Type starts at $69,000 and features a supercharged 3.0L V6 packing 340 horsepower while the F-Type S uses the same engine but offers 380 horsepower and a starting price of $81,000. The top of the line Jaguar F-Type V8 S is powered by the 495 horsepower supercharged 5.0L V8 with the most powerful of the three new droptop Jag’s carrying a starting price of $92,000. All three models are equipped with an 8-speed QuickShift automatic transmission controlled by the console mounted shifter or the steering wheel mounted paddles and the prices above do not include the $875 destination fee.
Once you have selected which trimline of the 2013 Jaguar F-Type in the new build page, you are taken to a new screen where you can customize the exterior. The F-Type allows the shopper to pick from 13 different exterior colors (available in all three trims), 4 different convertible top colors (all four colors are not available with every exterior color) and a choice of wheels with base model and S buyers picking between five different wheel options while V8 S buyers get four options. The standard F-Type comes with 18” polished wheels along with an optional 19 and 20 inch wheels. The F-Type S comes with standard 19” polished wheels along with the same four sets of optional rims from the base model and the V8 S comes with standard 20” polished wheels along with an option of those same wheels in black along with the two different option 20” wheels offered with the base and S models. Finally, the exterior design area allows those buyers who are looking at the S and V8 S packages to select from either black or red brake calipers while entry level buyers do not have the option of the bright red stoppers.
As you can see in the image on the right, my ideal 2013 Jaguar F-Type would be a V8 S trimline in British Racing Green Metallic with a black top, black cyclone wheels (standard are polished cyclone wheels) and red brake calipers. There are a handful of great exterior color options but something just feels “right” about this new Jag in the vintage green racing hue.
Once you have squared away the exterior, the 2013 Jaguar F-Type configurator takes you inside and that is where the levels of customization really go through the roof. The interior page allows you to pick your headliner color, seat design and color, trim colors, console finishes, carpeting and floor mats, the audio system and even the seatbelt color. On top of those different features, you can also pick between five different interior packages including the Premium Pack, the Vision Pack, the Climate Pack, the Performance Pack and the Extended Leather Pack. These optional packages are available with all three trimlines and based on the configurator, you can add all five of these packages at one time to build the ultimate F-Type. Inside, my ideal F-Type has Jet (black) throughout with red stitching and red seatbelts – loaded to the hilt of course.
Next, the Dynamics page of the 2012 Jaguar F-Type build site allows base model buyers to select between a variety of different steering wheels and an electronic sport exhaust system that allows the drive to make the car louder at the push of a button. I consider that feature to be a must-have, even without experiencing it in person. Those who are looking at the F-Type S or V8 S can also pick from various configurable dynamic mode screens but when you pick some (or all) of the option package in the Interior area – many of these decisions are made for you.
Finally, the 2013 Jaguar F-Type build site allows you to pick through an array of “additional features” for the interior and exterior including things like a heated windshield, a wind deflector, unique wheel center caps, tire snow socks, customizable ambient interior lighting, an umbrella holder, illuminated door sills plates and much more.
The only downside to the current 2013 Jaguar F-Type build site is that once you get to the end, no pricing is offered so it is unclear which options will raise the price by how much. We also do not know what features in the configurator are included in the base prices mentioned towards the beginning of this article but what we do know for sure is that the new F-Type offers an incredible level of customization that allows for truly personalized vehicles.
