The Ram Trucks brand is looking to offer more from-the-factory personalization with two new trimlines which are being introduced later this week at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. One is a popular option from the Ram 1500 lineup which will soon be offered with the Ram 2500 and 3500 and the second is a new limited edition package for the Ram 1500. Both are purely appearance packages, but with a long list of options with all of these trucks – both the Ram HD Night and the new Ram 1500 Copper Sport can be built to fit everyone’s needs.
2017 Ram HD 2500/3500 Night
The Night package was introduced late last year for the Ram 1500, adding a heavy dose of black trim to the monochromatic look of the Ram 1500 Sport. That package has proven to be popular with Ram 1500 buyers, so the company has decided to begin offering the Night option for the 2017 Ram 2500 and 3500 as well.
“Truck enthusiasts look for ways to stand out from the crowd,” said Mike Manley, Head of Ram Brand, FCA – Global. “The Ram brand understands that it’s important to meet the demands and deliver outstanding, durable products to every type of truck buyer. From the Ram Sport, to the popular Rebel, to the ultimate off-road truck – the Ram Power Wagon – Ram is building the best trucks in the enthusiast segment.”
As is the case with the Ram 1500 Night, the 2500 and 3500 Ram Night trucks start off with the monochromatic Sport package including body colored wheel flares. The Night package adds black lighting bezels, black trimmed headlights, a black grille with black billet inserts, black painted 20 inch aluminum wheels, the RAM tailgate letter from the Power Wagon (in black, of course), a black Ram’s head grille badge, black model specific badges, black engine badges on the doors. There are also optional black running boards, which I think complete the package nicely.
The new Ram 2500/3500 Night package is only available with single rear wheel trucks with the Crew Cab, but buyers can pick 4x2 or 4x4, along with any of the three Ram HD engines (5.7L Hemi, 6.4L Hemi, 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel). Exterior color options include Bright Silver Metallic, Bright White (shown above), Brilliant Black Crystal, Delmonico Red Pearl and Granite Crystal Metallic.
Production of the Ram HD Night begins later this month and when they reach dealerships, pricing will start at $45,520 (not including the $1,320 destination charge).
The Ram 1500 Copper Sport
Next up, we have a new, limited edition appearance package for the 2017 Ram 1500 – the Copper Sport (top of the page). This package is similar to the “regular” Ram 1500 Sport, but it includes the unique Copper Pearl exterior paint and a spread of black trim – including the stripes on the hood, the Ram’s head logo, the Ram tailgate badge and the model badges on the sides. There is also a unique set of chrome 22 inch wheels on 4x2 models, while 4x4 trucks get unique 20 inch wheels.
On the inside, the Ram 1500 Copper Sport includes Copper-colored accent stitching throughout the cabin, Copper “Sport” embroidery on the front heads, Copper Ram’s head embroidery on the side of the front headrests, Copper mesh on the seat cushions and Copper painted trim on the dash, doors and center console. Finally, the Ram 1500 Copper Sport package adds an Alpine premium sound system with nine speakers, including a bass-booming subwoofer.
“The Ram 1500 Copper Sport builds on the ever-increasing demand for factory-custom trucks,” said Mike Manley, Head of Ram Brand, FCA – Global. “Our customers continue to enjoy the attention to detail and styling our designers put into each trim level, and this new eye-grabbing model will not disappoint.”
The 2017 Ram 1500 Copper Sport is only offered with the 5.7L Hemi and the Crew Cab configuration, but the buyer can pick between rear wheel drive and four wheel drive. Production is limited to 3,000 units and when these trucks begin hitting dealerships later this month, they will have a starting price of $45,630 (not including destination).
