When Danica Patrick tweets on Twitter, we listen

This tweeter was featured by a Sports Illustrated columnist today: @keselowski: "Her assent up the ladder of the sport thru various branding 'techniques' (swimsuit ads etc) only serves to undermine the ... future credibility of female (racers) who wish to make it based on skill, mental toughness and a never give up attitude. That to me is wrong. Essentially, she has opened a pandoras (sic) box for all female racers. If she doesn't succeed, no female will get the chance for years to come.''

Kyle Petty, son of the King, Richard Petty, predicted a rough ride for Patrick when she actually races.

"I don't think she can be competitive," Petty told the Speed Channel. "Was she competitive (in the Nationwide race at Montreal)? Do they give out trophies for 25th? No, I ran 25th my whole life. I never got a trophy for 25th.

"She's not ready for Cup by any stretch of the imagination. I've said this before. ... She can come up, she can bring marketing, she can sell T-shirts. She's going to have to do something on the race track at some point in time and she has yet to do anything on a NASCAR track yet. Give her a chance. I'm all for chances."

Tough talk and strong criticism from a successful guy. I put Kyke's opinion this article because Kyle Petty gave me a few lessons on a Michigan track a few years ago. This guy knows his stuff and I respect him. If HE sees a road road ahead for Danica Patrick, it's probably true. Until the actual racin' starts, let's see what's on Danica's mind ...
