Lingenfelter's 2010 Camaro SS Record
Lingenfelter's 2010 Camaro SS can now lay claim to victory as the fastest LS9 powered Camaro SS. The Lingenfelter Camaro's quickest run was 8.997 seconds at 158.80 mph - putting out 1,243 HP and 1,328 lb.-ft. of torque at the tires, making it the first 5th Gen Camaro SS to go into the 8s in the quarter-mile. You can watch the LPE Camaro SS break its quarter-mile record on Lingenfelter's YouTube page.
Let's put this into comparison for you. Popular Mechanics tested the 2010 Camaro SS back in March 2009 and the six-speed manual, 3.45:1 geared 426 hp Camaro SS ran through the 1/4-mile in 13.0 seconds at 111 mph at a San Diego race track. Motor Trend did a test of the über sports car, the Bugatti Veyron, and determined its 1/4-mile time was 10.4 seconds at 139.9 mph. AutoSpies has a link to the video.
Lingenfelter's LS9 Camaro SS previously ran a 9.043 quarter-mile at 159.29 mph at Muncie Dragway on Oct. 30, 2010. The specially prepared vehicle features a 377 CID/6.2L LS9 engine, an LPE High Flow supercharger snout front cover, LS9 Overdrive Harmonic Balancer, LS9 2.38 diameter upper supercharger pulley and a TR6060 manual transmission.
