A little over a month ago, Toyota announced that it would be once again doing its 100 Cars for Good program, giving 100 cars to 100 deserving charities over 100 consecutive days based on voting from the public.
Last year's program saw a hundred worthy charities receiving vehicles from Toyota as the public voted on their favorites from the host of deserving groups that needed cars and trucks. This year, 500 more charities have been chosen as finalists and a hundred of those will receive a car when voting commences on May 14.
Each non-profit has created a short video explaining why they deserve a vehicle, what kind of Toyota vehicle they need, and what they'll do with it. Those videos will be shown in groups of 5, over 100 days. The general public will then vote on their favorites each day during the event. Voting will be on Toyota's special 100 Cars for 100 Days Facebook page. Winners will be announced each day and be presented with the car of their choice.
Each runner-up that doesn't get a car will receive a $1,000 cash grant from Toyota as a thank you for participating. Winners will receive their choice of the following vehicles: a Camry Hybrid, Highlander SUV, Prius v, Sienna minivan, Sienna Mobility, or a Tundra full-sized pickup truck. The vehicles include Toyota's factory 6-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
Every finalist received a digital camera, training toolkit, and online advertising credits to use towards supporting their 100 Cars for Good campaigns. Finalists are now creating and finalizing their videos for the upcoming voting competition.
More information can be had at 100carsforgood.com and that link will also be where voting will commence, starting May 14 and running through to August 21. The public can use their Facebook profile to vote once daily for one of the five presented charities on that day.
