The 2016 Lexus RX 350 mid-size luxury crossover saw important changes and updates. Despite being one of the most modern luxury crossovers in the mid-size category, the RX 350 also has the best 5-year cost to own at $51,116. This according to Kelly Blue Book (KBB), who just released their 5-Year Cost To Own rankings. This price may seem steep, but consider that the tiny Buick Encore has a cost of $43,380 and the large Buick Enclave a cost of $57,845 and you get a sense of the Lexus RX 350’s value. The runner-up Acura MDX had a cost of 54,892.
KBB factors in depreciation, insurance cost, fuel cost, and maintenance to come up with its ownership costs. KBB said of the 2016 Lexus RX 350 “…it's built on the reputation the RX brings after nearly 20 years of first inventing, then leading its class. Over time, its winning combination of luxury, reliability and quality has proven nearly unbeatable in its segment.”
The Lexus RX 350 is an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus-rated crossover for 2016. Prior model years were standouts for safety in real-life crash statistics. In fact, the RX 350 AWD was one of only nine vehicles in America with a zero driver death rate over three full years. Amazing, especially when one considers it was also the top seller in its segment for all three of those years.
