This week Consumer Reports released its 10 Top Picks of 2016. Toyota did very well on this year’s list with the Camry not only winning the Best Mid-size car category but also having the highest overall score of any car on the list. The Lexus RX 350 and RX 450h also won its category. The Sienna rounds out the wins for Toyota making it three for ten overall on the list. Toyota is also part owner of Subaru that took the compact SUV category with its popular Forester.
Consumer Reports said about the Sienna, “...the Sienna is super-reliable transport with all of the modern features an active, connected family would want. Its spacious and multifunctional interior, with available seating for eight, mates well with the Sienna’s magic carpet ride and energetic powertrain. Available all-wheel drive removes the excuse for buying a less practical SUV.”
The eight-passenger Sienna scored a 78-80 on Consumer Reports overall score and earned the “Recommended” rating from the group. Sienna’s owner satisfaction score was a 76, just a bit lower than the Honda Odyssey's 78 score. The group rated a new Sienna’s reliability prediction “Very Good” and noted that the Sienna has a Better than Average reliability score in its surveys of owners.
Finally, the Sienna is an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus rated minivan when equipped with its optional forward collision prevention system. There is no higher rating.
