Toyota announced a new Adventure line for its Tundra, RAV4 and Sequoia. Toyota's intent is to offer a new, slightly more capable off-road version of the vehicles that the Adventure trim is added to.
The RAV4 gets some unique new exterior features with this new trim. Most apparent in the new trim are the extended fender flares and lower body guards. The RAV4 Adventure also gets blackened fog light surrounds and headlight bezels. Roof racks are standard on the Adventure. Unfortunately, Toyota continues to add large-diameter, low-profile tires to its special trims. These low profile tires make the ride stiffer in most cases and decrease off-road capability, the opposite of this trim's mission.Toyota's Adventure trim on the RAV4 gets 18" 55-series rubber on special black alloy rims that look great. It is a shame that one must chose form over function on the RAV4, but that is common to most new vehicles these days including Subaru, Honda, and Nissan crossovers.
One big advantage to the RAV4 Adventure is a slight increase in ride-height, but Toyota didn't specify how much. We would guess about an inch. The RAV4 Adventure will be available in front-wheel drive with an Automatic Limited-Slip Differential, or with Toyota's Dynamic Torque Control all-wheel-drive. All Adventure Trims also get a Tow Prep Package with an upgraded radiator and supplemental engine oil and transmission fluid coolers. Trailer Sway Control (TSC), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), and TSS-P, Toyota's active safety systems are also included.
Toyota says that inside the Adventure trim will feature:
-Unique interior trim panels
-Leather-wrapped shift knob
-120V/100W power outlet in the cargo area
-Adventure door sill protectors
-All-weather mats floor and cargo mats with Adventure logo
Options for the RAV4 Adventure include, heat/power fabric front row seats, heated steering wheel, and wiper de-icer combined into a Cold Weather Package. Look for the 2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure this fall at Toyota dealerships nationwide.
