One of the very first things you will notice about the ZR2 is that it has meaty Goodyear tires. No need to rush out to replace the factory rubber with this truck.

The suspension is special, too. We see these shocks on all of GM’s off-road capable trucks today, and they never disappoint.

The engine is the much-loved 6.2-liter V8 gas engine. Would you rather have an EV truck or V8? Chevy will sell you either.

Real off-roaders have full-size matching spares.

Inside, we found GM’s infotainment system to be top-notch. Android Auto loads instantly, and we didn’t have any glitches during our week of testing. The screen size is just right. We loved using it wirelessly and letting our phone charge in its slot under the center console. Chevy got this right.

Out back, GM does a great job making it easy to access your cargo in this lifted truck. There is a corner step and a safety handle.

The tailgate does tricks.

Overall, we found a lot to like in the 2024 Silverado 1500 Crew ZR2.  This truck checks all the right boxes for a shopper in the $80K range.
