Will new 2015 Lexus GS F super-sedan run with the BMW M5?

It’s official. The next F in Lexus’ line is the 467 horsepower GS F

Today Lexus showed us all the new 2015 GS F. Lexus couldn’t wait until the Detroit auto show to reveal its next in the F line of performance vehicles. Those who have been following the evolution of the IS F to the RC F will be familiar with much of this new sedan.

GS F Engine
The new 2015 GS F will come with the amazing 5-liter V8 engine that produces 467 horsepower and 389 lb-ft of torque. This engine is not just a brute. It can switch from the Otto cycle to the Atkinson cycle to save fuel. It will also benefit from Lexus amazing transmission, which we found to be the single biggest performance feature of the RC F during our extended track testing.

One surprise is that the Lexus Torque Vectoring Differential (TVD) will be standard on the GS F according to Lexus’ press release today. That is an optional feature on the RC F, which has a Torsen limited slip Diff. standard. In case you’re wondering how much this new super-sedan will weigh, the word is that it will tip the load-cell at 4,034 pounds. A shame that Lexus could not find 35 pounds to shave to bring it in under 4K lbs!

The RC F coupe has done very well in comparisons to the BMW M4. Will this new sedan be comparable to the legendary BMW M5? More news is pending. The vehicle will be on display at the Detroit show starting January 13th.
