Toyota Prius Name A Best Car To Buy Now by U.S. News Autos - Here's Why

The Toyota Prius is a top-selling green car and has a legacy of happy customers. Here's why U.S. News Autos says now is the time to buy one.

U.S. News & World Report Autos does a monthly search for car deals that stick out as special. Deals so good shoppers who are considering buying in the near future should consider them seriously. To make U.S. News' monthly list, a car must meet three criteria: declining sales, strong manufacturer incentives and excellent scores in the U.S. News Best Cars rankings. On its latest list of 8 Cars To Buy Now, the publication chose the Prius as its only green car pick.

The Prius is no stranger to the U.S. News special lists. Jamie Page Deaton, Managing Editor for U.S. News Autos, told us, "It does always seem like Prius is on our lists." In April, the Prius Prime was singled out by the publication as the best plug-in hybrid. America agrees. The Prius Prime is the top-selling plug-in hybrid overall, and also the top-selling affordable EV of any type in the country.

This month, the special deals that put the Prius on U.S. News' list were 0% financing for 60 months plus $1,000 cash back or a lease for $189 per month for 36 months with $2,199 due at signing. Leases are popular options for green cars, but Toyota's special purchase deal is hard to ignore as well.

One reason that Toyota is offering great deals is that Prius sales have been declining. The RAV4 Hybrid is catching the eye of green vehicle shoppers and the new Camry Hybrids are also hot right now. The Prius remains the top seller, but Toyota has room on it production lines for many more than are being sold today.
