2 Subarus Named Consumer Reports 10 Best SUVs -They Are Not Models You Should Buy Now

What are the ten best SUVs for new model shoppers this year? Consumer Reports says two Subaru models are now among the year's best picks. But they aren't among Subaru's best-sellers. See why you should wait to buy either model this year.

What are the very best SUVs of any size you can buy today? According to a recently-updated list from Consumer Reports, two Subaru SUVs make the top ten best SUVs list, but they aren't among Subaru of America's (SOA) best-selling models. One model is being discontinued because sales of the model are so bad. Here is why you should wait to buy either model this year.

Consumer Reports best 2023 model year SUVs you can buy right now are ranked below from first to tenth. All ten have the highest road test scores, good reliability, high owner satisfaction, and top safety crash scores.

The Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid scores number one, followed by the Kia Telluride, Subaru Forester, Toyota Highlander Hybrid, Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, Toyota RAV4 Prime, Nissan Rogue, and Hyundai Palisade.

2023 Subaru Forester

The 2023 Subaru Forester ranks as the third-best model in CR's scoring. The Forester was Subaru of America's number-one-selling model until last year when it fell off the sales cliff. Forester is now the third best-selling model in SOA's all-wheel-drive lineup. There isn't a problem with the Forester, it's a reliable and capable compact SUV, but it needs a remodel. Subaru's savvy customers are waiting for the next-generation model to arrive later this year.

Here's why you should wait for the next-generation 2024 Forester

The 2024 Forester gets a complete remodel, but the new upgrades have yet to be announced. Forester will get updated exterior styling, interior upgrades, infotainment, and next-generation safety features. Subaru is tight-lipped about future product plans, but sources tell us the new compact SUV will get new engine upgrades. Stay tuned for more information.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Plug-In Hybrid

The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid is a top pick by Consumer Reports and ranks the fifth-best SUV you can buy this year. But there is a problem with the Crosstrek Hybrid trim level. It's overpriced, and compact SUV shoppers aren't willing to pay the extra $12,000 in the price for the fuel mileage increase. Subaru sells very few Hybrid models, and they are discontinuing the Crosstrek Hybrid after this year.

Here's why you should wait for the new Crosstrek Hybrid

Subaru Corporation is investing $1.8 billion to develop a new factory in Japan starting in 2027. Subaru will build a dedicated EV factory on the site of its Oizumi plant in Japan and produce battery-electric vehicles (BEV) and new hybrid electric vehicles (HEV). Subaru says by 2030, at least 40 percent of Subaru's global sales will be BEVs or HEVs.

The Crosstrek subcompact SUV could be the first new hybrid electric vehicle Subaru develops. Subaru will need to price the new hybrid model closer to the standard models and make it affordable for customers. We expect to see the newly-developed Crosstrek Hybrid model by 2025.

The 2023 Subaru Forester compact SUV and 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Plug-In Hybrid subcompact SUV are named Consumer Reports' 10 Best SUVs, but they aren't models new SUV shoppers should buy now. New, improved models are coming if you can wait.

Let’s talk about Subaru, the company ,I dropped a 1914 forester to have the steering wheel replaced that the dealer caused previously . They said it would take about 2 hrs.and they would call when done 4 days later they called . I picked it up the next day . Driving it home noise in rear end a/c not working right and later stoped working ,then found dealer sold out .& I noticed lumbar control did not work.I called Subaru customer relations ,they told that my car had no warranty because of age but they wanted me to take it to another dealer and get an estimate on the repairs which cam to over $4000.00 Subaru contacted the dealer and told that they would pay $3500.00 of the bill , so now you know what Subaru LOVE means . Best car co. Ever!
