The new 2014 Subaru Forester is getting more global attention for its design and it’s because the SUV enriches the lives of the people who use it. The new Forester has a great design and its being recognized by a Japanese industry standard called "Good Design Award 2013". The Forester has won the award from the Japan Industrial Design Promotion (JDP). Why did they choose the new Forester?
The award is given to companies and products who enrich the lives of the people who use them. The Forester wins because it loaded with intrinsic value and advanced technology that many automakers overlook. The mid-sized SUV will also be used for multiple purposes by its owners. “The fourth-generation Subaru Forester is an all-new SUV with multiple advanced technologies employed to be reliable both in daily lives and outdoor activities.”
Subaru listened to their owners to find out what they liked, and more importantly, what they didn’t like about the outgoing third-generation Forester. After extensive research, the direction became clear in the design the new Forester needed to take. Subaru owners are a unique group and enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle. You will see Subaru owners using their SUV for activities like hiking, biking, snowboarding, fishing and going to the beach. Many Subaru owners also have dogs which Subaru recognizes in their design.
The design studios in Japan, the U.S. and Europe all partnered together to come up with a design that would fit their customers needs. It starts in the interior where much attention was paid to details like visibility. Takuji Dai, Project General Manager, oversaw the new Forester project and was instrumental in its new design. The design team even paid attention to small details like how scenery reflects on the hood.
Good Design Award recognized the Forester for its use in daily life. Subaru announced that JDP said, "This is an elaborately-created vehicle design embodying SUV elements which will fit all roads and conditions. Having stability, all-road-capability and versatility in one package, the car reflects the result of steady evolution achieved over the long-time pursuit of SUV simplicity and balance. The combination of stable handling and unwearying high-quality design, with features such as seats focusing on the fundamentals and highly-functional inside door handles, has resulted in a high level automobile design."
Good Design Award has been a design evaluation and commendation system in Japan since 1957. More than 1,000 companies and designers submit entries for consideration for the Good Design Awards each year. Last year the 2013 Subaru Impreza G4/ Sport and 2013 XV won the award. Subaru takes home another design award for 2013.
The 2014 Subaru Forester will be displayed at the Good Design Exhibition scheduled to be held from October 30 through November 4 at Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi, Tokyo. The Forester is selling well all over the globe and helping the Japanese automaker beat their main competition. It’s because it truly enriches people's lives through its design.
