Edmunds says the all-new 2022 Subaru BRZ is now the top-rated sports car of 2022. They give two reasons for picking the next-generation Subaru BRZ over all other sports cars; for its driving performance and affordability.
"We are thrilled Edmunds recognized the BRZ as the Top Rated Sports Car for 2022," said Thomas J. Doll, President, and CEO of Subaru of America. "It's our mission as an automaker to develop vehicles that consumers not only can trust but can also have a great time driving, and the BRZ does just that."
Edmunds says, "As sports cars grow in size and complexity, purity of purpose and affordability often fade away. That's why we are so impressed with the redesigned Subaru BRZ. It puts enjoyable back-to-basics performance in front of a wide audience, and for that, it's the Edmunds Top Rated Sports Car."
Edmunds says they tested more than 300 vehicles on road and track, driving more than half a million miles in the process of determining the Top-Rated Awards. The online auto website presented awards to cars in nine segments this year: Sedan, Luxury Sedan, SUV, Luxury SUV, Truck, EV, Luxury EV, Sports Car, and Editors' Choice. Per Edmunds' standards, the Top Rated vehicles are the best cars on sale today.
How affordable is the 2022 Subaru BRZ?
The 2022 Subaru BRZ Premium trim with a 6-speed manual gearbox has a starting price of $28,955. BRZ Premium with an automatic transmission starts at $30,555. The Limited (6-speed manual) has a starting MSRP of $31,455. The Limited with an automatic transmission starts at $33,255. All pricing includes destination and delivery fees.
BRZ driving performance
The next-generation BRZ gets a stiffer chassis, high-performance summer tires, and has a lower center of gravity than the first-generation sports coupe. Edmunds says, "The diminutive BRZ possesses a nimbleness and a balance that's difficult to find in sports cars that cost three times as much."
"The BRZ driver, no matter their skill level, will enjoy capability and confidence. Subaru also added a more powerful engine, making the BRZ quicker and easier to drive", says Edmunds.
