Aston Martin has taken the wraps off the stunning new 2013 V12 Vantage Roadster for the world to see. The extreme new convertible will be the most potent example of power and sport combined in an open top supercar in the world. The new sports car will only be offered as a limited edition and will not be offered in all markets like its hardtop sibling. Aston Martin is only offering the V12 roadster in select markets and the beauty won’t likely be coming to U.S. shores.
The new Vantage Roadster is a stunning example of what open-top supercar styling should look like. The car uses carbon fiber on the side, front splitter, and rear diffuser to reduce weight and gives it a look that is exclusively Aston Martin. In the rear, the V12 Vantage Roadster gets a deck lid that incorporates a “flip” to reduce rear lift and improve stability at high speeds.
Massive V12 performance
And the limited edition roadster is certainly capable of incredible performance. The Vantage Roadster is powered by a 6.0-liter V12 engine pumping out 510 horsepower and 420 lb.ft. of torque. Aston Martin says the new supercar will go from 0-60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 190 mph. As the press release says, “the Vantage Roadster mixes breath-taking power with the established thrills for what will be an unforgettable sports car experience.” As with the Coupe, the powerful naturally aspirated V12 will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
Unique details inside
Inside, the Vantage Roadster will feature a few goodies not available on any of its siblings. The open-top beauty will feature things like glass switches in the center stack, and carbon fiber trim and carbon fiber gearshift surround will set this roadster apart. The Roadster will also feature a Sport mode which allows the driver to select from two different powertrain modes with Sport being available for more spirited and aggressive driving situations.
Aston Martin built this car to be driven and driven with spirit. CEO Dr Ulrich Bez said upon the relase of the new super roadster, “the V12 Vantage models are, first and foremost, driver’s cars, invinting and fully rewarding the driver’s full involvement. The new Roadster allows driver and passenger to experience full sensory overload thanks to its outstanding performance.”
The 2013 Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster is truly a beautiful piece of work from the British company who is known for building cars with power and prestige. Now we only wish they would offer the sports convertible in the U.S. In a few select markets, the V12 Vantage Roadster is ready for order and will be priced around $233,000.
