How easy is it to get information on a new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, 2024 Outback, 2023 Forester, or another new model? Not all automotive websites are easy to navigate for new-car shoppers. According to J.D. Power Automotive, the latest summer 2023 U.S. Manufacturer Website Evaluation Study says, Subaru of America's website is now the fourth best.
Subaru of America (SOA) jumped four spots from the winter report. The report reveals SOA makes it easy for online car shoppers, and customers are more satisfied.
The latest ranking from J.D. Power has Subaru at number four overall and jumped four spots. Subaru Crosstrek, Outback, Forester, and Ascent SUV customers shop online before visiting a Subaru showroom. Customers will go elsewhere if an automaker's website is not easy to use.
Why did Subaru jump four spots?
"Website satisfaction can be volatile and automotive websites are not immune to changing preferences," said Jon Sundberg, director of digital solutions at J.D. Power. "However, manufacturers have shown to be very agile when it comes to website design and ensuring their sites meet modern standards, more so than many other industries, as exemplified through the study data."
Subaru of America is one of the smallest automakers, yet they rank the fourth best website. Ram is number one (735), followed by GMC (729), Jeep (728), Subaru (727), Mazda (726), Mitsubishi (721), Dodge (720), Toyota (719), Chevrolet (718), Chrysler (718), and Honda (716) round out the top eleven. These automakers score above the industry average of 713.
Subaru scored higher than larger automakers like Kia, Ford, Hyundai, Nissan, Volkswagen, and Buick, who scored below average.
What does it mean for new-car shoppers?
The J.D. Power U.S. Manufacturer Website Evaluation Study is a semiannual study that measures customer satisfaction with automotive manufacturer websites while shopping for a new vehicle by examining four key measures (in order of importance): information/content; visual appeal; navigation; and speed.
The study finds that overall satisfaction averages 713 points (on a 1,000-point scale) for the mainstream segment and 724 for the luxury automotive car brand segment.
The Summer 2023 J.D. Power U.S. Manufacturer Website Evaluation Study is based on responses from 10,202 new-vehicle shoppers who indicate they will be in the market for a new vehicle within the next 24 months. The study was fielded in April-May 2023.
The J.D. Power Website Evaluation Study reveals customers shopping for a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, Outback, Forester, or another new model will have an above-average experience compared with many other automakers' websites.
