BMW just launched the 2016 M2 Coupe in the Indonesian market and it will come with a steep price tag. BMW Indonesia has launched the M2 Coupe at the price of 1349000000 Rupiah ($102,390 US). BMW says the new performance car should reach BMW showrooms this month. Will a younger generation be able to afford the new sports car?
Like in other global markets, BMW Indonesia expects to reach a whole new market with the newest M from BMW M GmbH. The Bavarian automaker is planning to capture sales from the large Asian millennial market comprising people from diverse cultures from the 24-35 age group.
BMW hopes a new generation can afford the M2
BMW believes that a large percentage of this target group, who have college degrees, will be able to afford the luxury performance coupe. Karen Lim, President Director of BMW Group Indonesia said, “BMW M2 Coupe whose presence is long overdue in the entry point line-up of the BMW M series, is an extraordinary vehicle. It is a firm answer to the compact vehicle segment with high performance that continues to grow with fierce competition. There is no doubt in my mind that BMW will attract many new customers, especially young buyers who will be inspired by the presence of these vehicles."
BMW believes that a large percentage of this target group, who have college degrees, will be able to afford a luxury vehicle. They will need to be making good salaries in order to be able to afford the M2’s price in Indonesia. This region of the world has experienced an economic downturn the last few years and new car sales are down. The new 2016 BMW M2 has everything the millennial generation wants in a performance car. Will they be able to afford it in Indonesia is the question.
