Fastest Selling Used Cars Under $20K, There’s Only One, Subaru Impreza Is Your Best Value This Summer

What is Subaru's best value used car this summer? A new iSeeCars report says it's the Subaru Impreza. And it's the best value pick of any model this summer.

If you shop for the best value used cars, iSeeCars lists the top twenty. Which Subaru model is on the list? It's the Subaru Impreza compact car. iSeeCars says the Impreza is the best value pick you can buy. Here's why.

iSeeCars says, "The fastest-selling used cars range between 12 to 25 days on the market, below the used car average of 34.2 days and notably quicker than the new car average of 54 days." Guess where the Impreza ranks? It's twelfth on the list. However, Impreza is the only model that costs less than $20,000. 

I've listed the twelve fastest-selling 1- to 5-year-old used cars in March 2024 from the iSeeCars study.

  1. Lexus RX 350h 12.3 average days on the market with an average price of $57,229
  2. Lexus NX 350h 15.8 average days on the market with an average price of $44,419
  3. Lexus NX 250 has 19.8 average days on the market with an average price of $38,772
  4. Kia Niro Plug-In Hybrid has 20.0 average days on the market with an average price of $24,276
  5. Lexus IS 500 has 21.4 average days on the market with an average price of $59,489
  6. Toyota Highlander Hybrid has 21.4 average days on the market with an average price of $39,409
  7. Lexus NX 350 has 21.6 average days on the market with an average price of $43,328
  8. Toyota Corolla Hybrid has 21.8 average days on the market with an average price of $23,016
  9. Mazda MX-5 Miata has 22.5 average days on the market with an average price of $27,237
  10. Honda CR-V Hybrid has 22.9 average days on the market with an average price of $31,591
  11. Ford Maverick Hybrid has 23.0 average days on the market with an average price of $30,917
  12. Subaru Impreza has 23.4 average days on the market with an average price of $19,990

"Most of the fastest-selling used models scream practical thinking, but the Mazda Miata and Hyundai Elantra N manage to bring a bit of fun to the value equation," said Karl Brauer, iSeeCars Executive Analyst.

What does the Impreza offer for used car shoppers?

NOTE: Because the Impreza is a good value, the compact car may be harder to find because shoppers are looking for value. 

1. Impreza offers exceptional fuel mileage.

The EPA says the one-year-old 2023 Subaru Impreza gets 31 mpg combined city/highway and 28/36 city/highway mpg in the non-Sport CVT trims. The Impreza 4-Door sedan gets 26 combined city/highway and 23/31 city/highway mpg in the non-Sport CVT trims. The Impreza 4-Door sedan with the 5-speed manual gearbox has the same fuel mileage.

2. Impreza offers Subaru's Symmetrical all-wheel-drive on all trim levels as standard equipment. With the Impreza, you'll have excellent all-weather performance. 

3. Impreza has the lowest cost of owning a compact car. Kelley Blue Book's (KBB) 2023 5-Year Cost to Own cars, trucks, and SUV awards this year says, "The 2023 Subaru Impreza scores among the best in category new vehicles you can buy."

What does it mean for SUV shoppers?

KBB adds up all costs associated with a vehicle for five years to generate the winners. Costs such as fuel, maintenance, repairs, financing, insurance, and one of the most significant factors of all, depreciation, are all factors that affect a vehicle's total ownership costs.

Used car shoppers looking for the best value should check out the Subaru Impreza compact sedan or hatchback trim levels. They're the best value, and you don't have to pay more than $20,000.
