BMW M GmbH is presenting a new, exclusive technological showpiece at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. They built the new 2016 BMW M4 GTS to help the brand celebrate the 30th anniversary of the M3. The M4 GTS features the first-ever water-injection system and it shows how BMW M GmbH is continuing to push the performance envelope with the M4.
Out put of the M4’s inline turbo engine is increased with the water injection system to 493 bHP, an increase of 16 percent over the BMW M4’s 3.0-liter TwinTurbo inline six engine and torque has been increased by 10 percent to 442 lb-ft. BMW says the M4 GTS will launch from 0-60 mph in a quick 3.7 seconds with a governed top speed of 189.5 mph.
The new M4 GTS celebrates the 30th anniversary of the BMW M3, which has been in production since 1986. It’s the latest performance model from BMW M GmbH following the BMW M3 GT (1995), BMW M3 CSL (2003), BMW M3 GTS (2010) and BMW M3 CRT (2011).
Only 700 examples of the high-performance M4 GTS will be built for global customers with 300 exclusive models being shipped to the U.S. BMW will be presenting the 2016 M4 GTS at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show where it will make its Asian premiere. The show runs from October 30 through November 8, 2015.
