Volkswagen unleashes the 2015 Golf R Rrrr that allows uses to drive the performance hatch wit the sound of their voice. How does it work?
Every kid has pretended to drive a toy car and made sounds with his voice to simulate the real thing. Now Volkswagen as come up with a virtual Gold R that responds to your voice through an “artificial intelligence subset of machine learning.”
How does it work?
Developed by VW’s agency of record Deutsch LA, the web app analyzes each user’s unique impression of the Golf R engine’s roar and then generates a customized video of the hot 292-hp turbocharged Golf R hatch roaring through a race track. It can also produce drifting, braking and other cool stunts that correspond with the user’s voice recording.
Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross Team driver Tanner Foust does the stunts in the video that users see. Watch the Tanner Foust Unleash Your Rrrr video below.
With 292 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque from its turbocharged and direct-injection EA888 TSI engine, the Golf R will be a fun ride in the real world and the virtual world. It comes with 36 horsepower and 37 lb-ft more than the previous version. The available six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission offers a launch control feature, enabling the car to sprint from 0-60 mph in just 4.9 seconds. The top track speed is 155 mph.
The VW Golf R competes with the new 2016 Ford Focus RS that's coming to the U.S. and the rally-bred 2016 Subaru WRX STI. You can unleash your 2015 Volkswagen Golf R Rrrr here.
