According to the newest Vincentric Best Fleet Value In America 2022 awards, both Subaru models are the lowest cost to own.

What does it mean for new car shoppers?
The Vincentric Best Fleet Value In America 2022 awards measure cost-of-ownership using eight different cost factors: depreciation, fees and taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost, and repairs. Vincentric evaluated each vehicle in all 50 states plus Washington D.C. using 28 different ownership/mileage scenarios. Winners were identified by determining which vehicles had the lowest fleet lifecycle cost in the most scenarios for their segment.
The 2022 Subaru Outback wins the Vincentric lowest cost-to-own award in the Midsize SUV segment for the fifth time. Vincentric says, "Having the lowest insurance cost in its class helped the Outback outperform the competition in 11 out of 28 measured lifecycle cost scenarios for 2022."
What is the price of the 2022 Subaru Outback?
The 2022 Outback comes in eight trim levels; the base trim is priced from $27,845, Premium ($30,270), Limited ($34,720), Touring ($38,620), Onyx Edition XT ($36,270), new for 2022, Outback Wilderness ($38,120), Limited XT ($39,120), and Touring XT ($41,070). Pricing includes $1,125 destination and
delivery fees.
What is the 2022 Outback fuel mileage?
The EPA fuel mileage rating of the 2022 Outback XT 2.4-liter turbo is 23/30 city/highway mpg and 26 combined mpg. The estimated fuel economy of the standard 2.5-liter engine is 26/33 mpg city/highway and 29 combined mpg.
The EPA says the new 2022 Outback Wilderness gets an estimated 22/26 city/highway mpg and 24 combined mpg. The 2021 Outback XT with the 2.4-liter turbocharged engine gets an EPA estimated 23/30 city/highway mpg and 26 combined mpg.
Subaru Crosstrek scores best in category for the sixth time
The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek scores the best in the competitive Compact SUV category for the fifth consecutive year and the sixth time overall. Vincentric says, " "The Crosstrek'sCrosstrek's lowest insurance cost in its class helped it win 19 out of 28 measured lifecycle cost scenarios and claim the win for 2022."
What is the price of the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek?
The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek comes in five trim levels for U.S. customers. The base trim is priced from $23,570, Premium ($24,720), Sport ($27,920), Limited ($29,420) and Crosstrek Hybrid ($37,895). Prices include destination and delivery fees ($1,125).
What is the 2022 Crosstrek fuel mileage?
You can have an all-wheel-drive SUV and still get good fuel efficiency. The Subaru Crosstrek uses direct injection on its new 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine and gets 27/34 city/highway mpg and 29 combined mpg.
The 2.0-liter engine gets 28/33 mpg and 30 combined mpg with the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) automatic, contributing to better mileage.
New car shoppers looking for a midsize or compact SUV should check out the 2022 Subaru Outback and 2022 Subaru Crosstrek. Vincentric says they are still the lowest cost to own new models in their segment.
