The new S-Class is the world’s finest luxury saloon and Mercedes sent it to Affalterbach and what they got back was truly amazing, the world’s most powerful luxury sedan. It’s Mercedes-Benz newest creation from AMG that just made its world premiere in Frankfurt and it’s a beauty. It’s powered by a hand-built 5.5-liter biturbo V-8 sending 577-hp and an astounding 664 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels.
Mercedes says that considering its racetrack heritage, the S63 “gives a whole new meaning to the lap of luxury.” The flagship of the brand has now become the rocketship of AMG. The S-Class has led the way for the Three Point Star and now it leads the entire industry. After AMG got its hands on the luxury saloon, it laps the field with incredible performance unseen in any luxury sedan. And it’s now coming soon to U.S. shores.
This is why we love Mercedes-Benz here at Torque News. It doesn’t get any better than this. Just how fast is the new S63 AMG? Try a neck-snapping 0-60 sprint time of just 3.9 seconds. That makes the newest AMG the fastest high-performance sedan on the planet. It's a good thing that it has an electronically limited top speed of 186 mph. Who knows how fast it could go, but good luck in finding a road long enough to find out.
And it gets better. Mercedes-AMG hooked all that power up with their sophisticated AMG Speedshift MCT (Multi-Clutch Technology) seven-speed sports transmission. All that muscle can be sent to all four corners courtesy of the new AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The new 4MATIC equipped S63 AMG is up to 220 pounds lighter than its predecessor. And the performance-oriented AMG all-wheel drive system 4MATIC is offered standard on the performance model for the first time.
But there’s still more to the pavement pounding luxury sedan. The “adrenaline-raising arsenal” also includes the AMG ADAPTIVE Sports Suspension, AMG high-performance two-piece braking system and AMG speed-sensitive sports steering system to finish out the AMG goodies.
Inside, the driver is treated to the ultimate in luxury with the all-new AMG sport seats with hot stone massage function. This is a world’s first and features a unique massage function with 14 separately actuated air cushions in the backrest, as well as an integrated warming function. The steering wheel gets upgraded too with an AMG sports steering wheel combined with handcrafted details such as embossed AMG emblems to finish out the cabin that´s not only luxurious, but unmistakably geared for performance enthusiasts.
Look for the all-new performance 2014 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG to be unleashed on U.S. roads in November.
