Mercedes C63 AMG shows performance is alive and well in UK

AMG registrations are up 142 per cent in the UK and the 2013 Mercedes C63 AMG is leading the way. Who says performance cars are a thing of the past?

If you think performance cars are going away, don’t tell performance enthusiasts in the UK. Registrations for Mercedes-AMG vehicles are way up. Last month in the UK, AMG continues its unbeaten run as the UK’s fastest-growing performance brand. Performance is alive and well around the globe and it’s here to stay.

Mercedes-AMG GmbH is putting out some great products and buyers in the UK love their performance cars. Mercedes reported monthly sales figures were up an impressive 142 per cent, and YTD registrations up 60 percent to 1,825 for the high-powered AMG vehicles. Over 1,000 C 63 AMGs have taken to the UK roads so far this year, making it the UK’s most popular AMG family.

And the future is looking bright at Mercedes-AMG, the high-performance brand for Daimler AG. The Board of Management has appointed Tobias Moers as the new Chief Executive of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. He will be the successor to Ola Källenius as of October 1, 2013, who will become the new Head of Sales & Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Cars as of the same date.

Prof. Dr. Thomas Weber, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG for Group Research and Development Mercedes-Benz Cars said in the press release, “Tobias Moers has gasoline in his veins. With his technical expertise and enthusiasm for high-performance automobiles, he has made an important contribution to the success of our high-performance brand in recent years. He is an out-and-out AMG man who has helped shape the brand for nearly 20 years now.”

Mercedes overall as a brand is doing well in the UK. The German automaker has sold 64,779 new Mercedes-Benz cars so far this year.  Mercedes-Benz Cars continues to grow faster than both the whole new car market, and the other full-line premium brands. The E-Class leads the premium segment for Mercedes outselling the new A-Class and B-Class premium compacts.

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG also comes in the special 2014 Edition 507 trim that pushes the performance envelope even farther. Buyers around the globe are wanting performance vehicles and Mercedes-AMG is one of the top automakers in the world giving buyers what they want.
