The 2024 Subaru Outback is coming with new upgrades over the outgoing model this fall. So which of the nine trim levels is the best for you? Subaru of America put a newly-upgraded 2023 Outback configurator tool online to check the different trim levels with standard features, color selection, and images of each 2024 model change.
The 2024 Outback is available in nine trim levels; Base, Premium, new Onyx Edition with a 2.5-liter engine, Limited, Touring, Outback Wilderness, Onyx Edition XT, Limited XT, and Touring XT models.
What's new for 2024? The 2024 Outback trim level upgrades.
Outback Base trim level upgrades
The Base Outback now comes with dome and cargo area lights that have been upgraded to LED.
Outback Onyx Edition upgrades
The standard 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system is now paired with a Harman Kardon speaker system with a 576-watt equivalent amplifier. In addition, the Onyx Edition now comes standard with a Power Moonroof, Reverse Automatic Braking, and a 360-degree heated steering wheel is now standard.
Outback Wilderness upgrades
For 2024, the Outback Wilderness now receives a more rugged look thanks to a new front fascia featuring a redesigned bumper and LED fog lights paired with a more prominent front grille. In addition, a 360-degree heated steering wheel is now standard on the Outback Wilderness.
Onyx Edition XT
A 360-degree heated steering wheel is now standard on the Outback Onyx Edition XT. This feature was only offered on higher trim levels the previous year.
All other features and standard equipment remain the same as the 2023 Outback models. And the MSRP for all 2024 Outback option packages remains the same as the previous year.
The 2024 Outback's most significant new upgrade.
The new standard 360-degree heated steering wheel on the 2024 Outback Onyx Edition, Onyx Edition XT, and Outback Wilderness is the upgrade customers have wanted for years. It could be the most significant improvement for the 2024 models.
Customers in colder climates will appreciate the added warmth of having the heat on their hands. U.S. customers won't need gloves when the temperature drops below freezing in the Northeast, Rocky Mountains, and the Northwest. They say, "Thank you, Subaru of America!"
What is the price of the 2024 Subaru Outback?
For the 2024 model year, the Outback will be available in nine trim levels. The Base is priced at $30,190, Premium ($32,490), Onyx Edition ($37,400), Limited ($37,090), Touring ($41,640), Onyx Edition XT ($40,655), Wilderness ($41,255), Limited XT ($41,490), and Touring XT ($44,090). In addition, destination and delivery fees are included in the price above ($1,295).
How much did the 2024 Outback increase in price?
All Outback trim level's prices increased by $570 except for the Onyx Edition, which had a $2,680 jump. The Wilderness increased by $1,585, and the Onyx Edition XT price raised $835. Dealer fees increased by $70 per vehicle.
Is the 2024 Outback a good value for midsize SUV shoppers?
What sets the Outback apart from other SUVs? All Outback midsize SUV trim levels ride higher with extra ground clearance than most family haulers. The Outback has 8.7 inches of ground clearance, Subaru's Symmetrical all-wheel-drive, and X-Mode for all-terrain performance. The Outback also gets the highest safety scores from the IIHS.
Which Outback trims offer the best value?
The 2024 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium and Limited trim levels are where many buyers will land and offer the best value with the smallest price increases. The Premium and Limited trim levels still provide the best value for customers who spend most of their time in an urban setting.
The 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated engine in the Subaru Outback Premium, Onyx Edition, Limited, and Touring trims is a good choice for commuters who won't use their vehicle for off-road adventures.
Unless you need the Outback XT's extra power and off-pavement capability, you will pay around $5,000-$8000 less for a comparably equipped 2.5i trim level.
However, the Onyx Edition XT and Wilderness trims are priced under $42,000 and are a good choice for those with active lifestyles and will get you further off the grid.
The 2024 Subaru Outback remains the automaker's flagship model in the U.S. and is the brand's second-best best-selling all-wheel-drive vehicle in the lineup. The midsize SUV has several new features for customers and will arrive at Subaru of America retailers this fall.

Just purchased a 2023 Outback Premium from Subaru of Gainesville Florida last week. They do not provide a maintenance program. Is this normal? In 2015 l purchased a new outback from them and they had a 3 year service warranty. Now they don't. Is this something all dealerships are doing now?
