The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is smokin’ hot while the Subaru Forester dropped 26.5 percent, Outback is down 4.3 percent, and Ascent dropped 18.1 percent in August. The 2021 Crosstrek is up 12.2 percent and is Subaru’s only SUV with positive numbers last month.
This summer, the refreshed 2021 Subaru Crosstrek with a new 2.5-liter engine upgrade is still flying off dealers’ lots. Subaru of America reports they delivered 11,587 Crosstrek subcompact SUVs to customers, compared with 10,329 in August 2020. The subcompact SUV is up 37.3 percent year-to-date, leading all Subaru SUV nameplates.

How does the Subaru Crosstrek compare to Forester and Outback?
Before the 2022 Forester compact SUV arrives, Subaru delivered 12,688 models to customers in August compared with 17,261 in August 2020, a 26.5 percent decrease. Customers bought 14,219 Outback models compared with 14,856 in August 2020, a 4.3 percent decrease.
Why is the Crosstrek the hot model this summer?
The 2021 Crosstrek hits the sweet spot with standard all-wheel-drive, hatchback utility, off-road ability, top safety scores, and excellent fuel mileage. Customers with active lifestyles like its X-Mode in standard trims and duel-function X-Mode in the Crosstrek Sport and Limited trims. The unique settings offer improved off-road ability.
The Crosstrek also offers a younger demographic a subcompact SUV with a taller ride height (8.7-inches of ground clearance), making it ideal for hitting the trails this summer.
What is the price of the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek?
The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek comes in five trim levels for customers. The base trim is priced from $23,295, Premium ($24,345), all-new Sport ($27,545), and Limited ($29,045). Prices include destination and delivery fees ($1,050).
What is the Crosstrek fuel mileage?
The refreshed Crosstrek with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine gets an EPA estimated 28/33 mpg and 30 combined mpg with CVT automatic transmission. The new 2.5-liter engine gets an EPA estimated fuel mileage of 27/34 city/highway and 29 combined mpg.
When will the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek arrive for U.S. customers?
With the newly-announced September 7-17 plant shut down, the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek will be delayed further. Stay tuned to Torque News for the 2022 Crosstrek reveal sometime late this summer or early fall.
