The next-generation 2025 Subaru Forester compact SUV is about to make its dealer launch, and a hybrid trim level I have reported on here is next for U.S. customers. When will Subaru Corporation launch its next new all-electric, all-wheel-drive vehicle?
A new report from Japan at BestCarWeb says a Forester battery electric vehicle (BEV) is coming soon. The report reveals the new BEV is coming next year and will have a fully electric range of over 400 miles.
I don't know if the report is accurate, and Subaru has yet to confirm a new Forester EV. However, Subaru is ramping up its electric vehicle production, and seven new EVs are coming by 2028. So, a Forester EV is not out of the question.
The question is, how soon will it be designed and built?
BestCarWeb says, "Furthermore, in addition to the Solterra, a sibling of the Toyota bZ4X, Subaru is expected to launch a BEV originally developed by Subaru in 2025."
"The new BEV will be developed independently by Subaru and will be an SUV that is one class higher than the Solterra. 4WD performance is pursued."
"Subaru will release the new Forester announced in North America and Japan in 2024, and it plans to launch a new SUV-type BEV in 2025." The report says it will be built independently by Subaru.
"The new Subaru BEV is expected to feature improved interior space and all-wheel-drive for better performance on rough roads. There are plans to improve the cruising range on a single charge, aiming for over 700km (435 miles)."
MY TAKE
The next-generation Forester could be the SUV that Subaru chooses as the next battery-electric-vehicle launch for its global customers. The 2025 Forester with the 2.5-liter Boxer engine arrives in the U.S. this spring. The new Forester Hybrid will launch sometime early next year, and a Forester BEV could come after that.
I know that Subaru Corporation is collaborating with its corporation partner, Toyota, for new electric vehicle technology. The plan includes the redesigned 2025 Forester, a hybrid system sourced from Toyota.
Also, a new Subaru 3-Row crossover SUV is to be built by Toyota at its Georgetown, Kentucky plant. After that, Subaru will shift to developing its own electrified vehicles.

I have previously reported that Subaru's in-house EV production in Japan will start in 2025 on an assembly line with an annual capacity of about 200,000 vehicles.
Subaru will add a line dedicated to EV production in Japan around 2027 with an additional capacity of 200,000 vehicles. Meanwhile, it plans to localize EV output for the U.S., its largest market accounting for approximately 70 percent of its global sales.
The new EV vehicles and production require more research and development firepower, new Subaru CEO Atsushi Osaki said recently. Osaki took office last year and dramatically scaled up the company's EV strategy.

Subaru has a new innovation hub nestled in a corner of Subaru's main Japanese manufacturing complex. I have written a detailed report on the massive high-tech building, which you can read here.
Will the sixth-generation Forester be the next Subaru SUV to get battery electric technology? Subaru Corporation has yet to confirm it, but reports from Japan say yes.
This is the latest information regarding the next-generation Subaru Forester and new Subaru BEVs. I'll update you as I learn more about Subaru's electrification program.
