The New Subaru SUV That’s Cheapest To Insure And Where To Find The Best Rates

Which Subaru vehicle is the cheapest to insure? How do the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek, 2023 Outback, or 2023 Forester compare in insurance costs per year?

Subaru's all-wheel-drive vehicles are known for being safe and getting the Top Safety Pick+ scores from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). That's good news for new car shoppers looking for the cheapest insurance for an SUV since a vehicle's safety rating factors into insurance premiums.

What is the cheapest Subaru vehicle to insure?

According to cost data from MarketWatch Guides, the Forester is the cheapest 2022 Subaru model to insure at an average of $1,673 per year or $139 per month. That's less than the national average to insure a 2022 model vehicle across all car brands and models, which is $1,730 per year or $144 per month.

2023 Subaru Forester

Another recent report from Insure.com compares car insurance rates in every state for approximately 3,000 different vehicle models to find the cheapest and most expensive vehicles to insure. They found that the 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness trim level is now the least-costly new vehicle to insure at $1,353 per year.

Insure.com says, "Because of this vehicle's safety ratings and the lower price of parts associated with this model, this is less expensive to insure than virtually any other automobile."

Who has the best Forester insurance rates?

MarketWatch data says Nationwide has the lowest rates for the 2022 Forester, with full coverage available for an average cost of $974 per year or $81 per month. USAA is a close second at $997 per year or $83 per month.

USAA and Nationwide aren't far behind, each offering coverage for less than $100 per month.
