Which Subaru SUV should you buy this year? Is the 2023 Subaru Forester, 2023 Outback, or 2023 Crosstrek the top-ranked model? According to a new report from iSeeCars, Subaru's best SUV is the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, with an iSeeCars Quality Score of 8.6 out of 10.
This score is reflected in the Subaru Crosstrek being ranked #1 for Best Plug-in Hybrid SUV (PHEV), the highest overall ranking for any Subaru SUV. But the Crosstrek Hybrid is discontinued. So, which is the next best model?
iSeeCars says Subaru's second-best SUV is the 2023 Subaru Outback midsize SUV, with an iSeeCars Quality Score of 8.8 out of 10. This score is reflected in the Subaru Outback being ranked #1 for Best Crossover SUVs, the highest overall ranking for any Subaru SUV. Additional Subaru Outback rankings include #2 for Safest Crossover SUVs and #2 for Best Crossover SUVs for the Money.
iSeeCars says Subaru's third-best SUV is the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek subcompact SUV, with an iSeeCars Quality Score of 8.7 out of 10. This score is reflected in the Subaru Crosstrek being ranked #1 for Best Crossover SUVs with the best resale value.
iSeeCars says Subaru's fourth-best SUV is the 2023 Subaru Forester compact SUV, with an iSeeCars Quality Score of 8.1 out of 10. This score is reflected in the Subaru Forester being ranked #4 for Best Crossover SUVs, #4 for safest crossover, and #4 for a best crossover for the money.
The new 2024 Outback and Crosstrek will arrive soon, and new model shoppers may want to wait. Unfortunately, the new 2024 Forester has yet to be announced.
What is the price of the 2024 Outback?
For the 2024 model year, the Outback will be available in nine trim levels. The Base is priced at $30,190, Premium ($32,490), Onyx Edition ($37,400), Limited ($37,090), Touring ($41,640), Onyx Edition XT ($40,655), Wilderness ($41,255), Limited XT ($41,490), and Touring XT ($44,090). In addition, destination and delivery fees are included in the price above ($1,295).
What is the price of the 2024 Crosstrek?
For 2024, the Crosstrek will be available in Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, and Wilderness trim levels. The Base's starting price is $26,290 (the same MSRP as the 2023 Base model equipped with the Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission).
The 2024 Crosstrek Premium has a starting price of $27,440, Sport ($30,290), and Limited ($32,190). Pricing includes destination and delivery fees ($1,225).
What is the price of the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness?
The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness will be the most expensive Crosstrek trim level. The all-new Crosstrek Wilderness costs $33,290, including dealer destination and delivery fees.
What is the price of the 2023 Forester?
The 2023 Forester comes in six trim levels; The Base Forester starts at $27,620, Premium ($30,620), Sport ($32,190), Limited ($34,300), Wilderness ($35,245), and Touring ($37,720). Pricing includes dealer fees ($1,225).
iSeeCars says the Subaru Outback midsize SUV is Subaru's top-ranked and the best SUV in its lineup. It's followed closely by the Crosstrek subcompact SUV and Forester compact SUV.
Our take:
All three models score high in safety scores and reliability, and two (Outback and Forster) are ranked the lowest cost-to-own models in their segment. In addition, they are all recommended models by Consumer Reports.
