Want more power for your BRZ/FR-S/GT86? Cosworth has a 280 hp solution [video]

Sales of the 2015 Subaru BRZ are down 44.23 percent month to date and down 6.26 year to date and lack of power could be a big reason why. But Cosworth has the answer for the stock 200hp Subaru Boxer FA20 powerplant to bump up the power to an impressive 280 horsepower. Last year at SEMA, Cosworth introduced Stage 1 that bumped up power an additional 24 hp to the BRZ/FR-S/GT86 boxer engine.

Now the UK tuner has introduced Stage 2 Power Packages that will now deliver an increase of up to 80 additional hp for the Subaru BRZ, Scion FR-S and Toyota GT86 sports cars. They introduced the new power package at this year’s SEMA Show 2014. That sounds like the kind of power increase that would excite any BRZ/FR-S/GT86 performance enthusiast.

Who is Cosworth?

They are located in Northampton, UK and they are a global technology business that develops performance upgrades for automotive and sport. For 2014, Cosworth now offers this new Performance Parts range providing complete performance upgrade kits that will increase the level of performance even more over the stock FA 20 Subaru engine.

How do they do it?

Cosworth offers a a “fully validated system” that includes intake manifold, intercooler and positive displacement supercharger to create a unique design. They also feature a low temperature radiator and a free flow exhaust system for the Stage 2.0 FA20 Power Package. Cosworth says, “The Stage 2.0 FA20 Power Package delivers a consistent increase in engine performance and provides excellent throttle response at low engine speeds and a sustained performance increase even in demanding race track conditions.”
