In independent testing done by USAC between the 2016 Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, Subaru Forester and Ford Escape, who wins? United States Auto Club (USAC) conducted two tests and came up with interesting results. The first was a hill climb using a specially designed ramp compromising traction with water. In the Compromised Traction Hill Climb, the Subaru Forester was the only vehicle to make it up and over the special ramp. Each vehicle came equipped from the factory with similar all season radials.

The next test was the Competitive Engineering EVOC Evade. This was also conducted by USAC. In the 40 mph test, each small crossover vehicle had to navigate the course evading the barriers. Each USAC driver had a chance to drive through the course in the 5 vehicles. The Forester was the only small crossover to make it through without hitting a barrier. The 2016 Subaru Forester came out on top, Mazda CX-5 second, Toyota RAV4 third, Ford Escape fourth and Honda CR-V.

Subaru has carved out a unique niche in the market with their Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive vehicles. It comes standard on the new 2016 Forester and on all their vehicles except for the rear-drive Subaru BRZ sports coupe. It’s one of Subaru’s core values that sets them apart from the rest.
Subaru’s vehicles will go beyond the normal range of on-and off-road activities. The Forester is a true off-roader that has been put through other challenging tests before this one, and is proven to be the best in the field and beats the competition. The small crossover will keep its occupants safe on the road, and it’s also designed for those who want to have extreme fun in the dirt, snow and sand. According to USAC, the 2016 Subaru Forester is the best small crossover when it comes to all-wheel-drive performance.
