Several Tesla Cybertruck Owners Are Reporting a Sudden Spike in Insurance Premiums Following the Recent String of Tesla Vandalisms – State Farm and Progressive Policyholders Report Upto a 33% Increase

Tesla Cybertruck owners are experiencing a sudden increase in insurance premiums following a recent rise in Tesla vandalism incidents. Some owners report premium increases of up to 33%. Nevertheless, these owners state they will not sell their Cybertruck.

A Cybertruck owner from Colorado, who goes by the username M0unt41, says his insurance premium suddenly shot up this month.

The Cybertruck owner reports that his insurance payment increased by 23% without any explanation, and he now fears this increase may be connected to the recent surge of vandalism and hate directed at Tesla in general and the Cybertruck in particular.

Despite being unhappy about his insurance premium increasing, the Cybertruck owner insists that he loves his Cybertruck, will not sell it, and is happy to pay a higher premium just to stick it to the anti-Tesla protesters.

The Colorado Cyberteruck owner shared his story on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum.

He writes…

“Tesla insurance rates increase

Mine just went up 23%. Are other people seeing this as well? Does the spike have anything to do with vandalism?

I’m not giving mine up because screw the protesters… I will keep paying just to piss them off.”

Living under the fear of having your vehicle vandalized is already bad enough, but now, because of these vandals, the Cybertruck owner has to pay more to insure his vehicle.

He continues to write…

“I’ve insured my Cybertruck with State Farm. I just received a quote from Progressive, and it is even higher than State Farm's. It seems like there is an increase across the board.”

This is not an ideal situation whatsoever; however, the Colorado Cybertruck owner doesn’t seem to be the only one in this predicament.

Several other Cybertruck owners with various insurance providers are also reporting that their insurance premiums have unexpectedly increased.

A fellow Cybertruck owner who goes by the username Gigahorse reports that his insurance payment for the Cybertruck has also suddenly increased by 33%.

The Cybertruck owner says that for the past 16 months he has been driving his truck, his rates have been steady; however, without any explanation, his premium just jumped recently.

The Cybertruck owner believes that the recent surge in anti-Tesla and, specifically, Cybertruck-related crimes is responsible for the sudden increase in insurance rates.

He writes…

“Progressive Insurance's 6-month policy renewal was this last Thursday, and my insurance premium went up 33%.”

A sudden 33% increase in insurance rates without any apparent reason is not ideal. However, to make matters worse, the Cybertruck owner says he has been shopping around to get a better deal for his Cybertruck coverage, but he is getting even higher quotes.

He continues to write…

“I'm looking for other options, but nothing much better so far.”

And if there is any doubt about whether the rise in insurance rates is connected to the recent surge in anti-Tesla violence, the Cybertruck owner states that he is among the early buyers who purchased his Cybertruck in December 2023.

However, his insurance premium remained steady for 16 months until it suddenly spiked this month.

He writes…

“Insurance rates have been steady on the Cybertruck for 16 months, and all of a sudden this month they go up 33%?????????? Has to do with all the news, etc.”

Nobody knows or cares if these boobs continue paying the higher rates. The only people they're "sticking it to" are themselves. Meanwhile, their insurance carriers are happy to take their money. And the protesters and vandals carry on.

Wait until Tesla's are given the green light to use their camera based self-drive mode.

Tesla has had 56 fatalities in accidents with 44 of them is "hands free" and 2 in full self driving modes.

In Arizona a software glitch caused a autonomous Tesla to rundown and kill a woman walking a bike across the street.

The vehicle saw her but a software input error caused the vehicle to ignore or dismiss her.

The software determined that is was a bike and not a motorcycle. It then not only dismissed the bike as a motorcycle but actually decided to ignore it completely as an obstacle. The bike was between the Tesla and woman so it basically screened her, making the woman invisible as far as the Tesla was concerned.

She died because of a input error.

"Oops" isn't acceptable, "we will do better" isn't acceptable and beta testing by trial & error isn't acceptable.

LIDAR is a key factor in autonomous vehicle safety which Tesla refuses to adopt.

How much of a difference is there with LIDAR being used?

The WAYMO cabs have in Arizona have noone behind the wheel, they have logged in millions of miles without a single accident caused by the autonomous driver. The two accidents they have had were caused by drivers hitting the WAYMO.

The tanking stock market, stagflation and the increased likelihood of a recession could just as easily have caused the rate increase, especially given the timing. But blame the graffi sprayed on a few cars without any evidence of causation.

I doubt this is vandalism. More likely the insurance companies are finding out the design is terrible and small crash insanely expensive to fix so they are catching up.

By paying more money he thinks he's "stick[ing] it to the anti-Tesla protesters"?? He's paying more money and literally nothing is happening to the protesters 🤨 I admire the dedication to be willing to pay more money for no change in what he's paying for, but I do not at all see how that is sticking it to the protesters 😆

As a Tesla owner what I'm starting to worry about is that insurance companies will start enforcing the provision found in most policies that they won't pay claims for damages caused by domestic terrorists. That and being burned alive because someone from a hate group throws a Molotov into my window because they are offended by the car I drive.

Keep raising them. If the can afford $120k for a $30k vehicle just to “look cool” and make Elon rich, they can afford insurance!!
