Since the company’s inception, Tesla has given as much focus to designing a great charging infrastructure as it has to creating a great vehicle.
As a result, Tesla’s supercharger network, with over 50,000 stalls worldwide, has grown to be the best DC fast-charging network in the world.

In addition to the number of charging sites, Tesla superchargers are also a leader in reliability, ease of use, and integration with the company’s trip planner.
Tesla’s charging infrastructure is so robust that Elon Musk believes if Tesla Charging splits as a stand-alone entity, it’ll be a Fortune 500 company.
Tesla has been endlessly praised for the foresight and reliability of the supercharger network; however, lately, the EV maker has been hinting at other more exciting capabilities coming to the company’s vehicles when it comes to charging.
Tesla first hinted at this exciting charging update during the company’s Investor Day presentation back in March 2023. During the keynote presentation, Tesla showed a slide titled “We shouldn’t forget to do cool things” and displayed a Tesla vehicle charging wirelessly through a charging mat.
In addition to this teaser, Tesla acquired an inductive charging startup in the same year and absorbed the company’s patents and engineers.
Tesla has been leaving breadcrumbs everywhere, hinting at a possible wireless charging capability and an announcement about a wireless charging mat.
However, today, we’ve received our first confirmation that Tesla is not only planning to announce wireless charging capabilities in its vehicles but that the EV maker is already shipping a vehicle with inductive charging capabilities.
These findings were unearthed thanks to the Cybertruck teardown currently being undertaken by several entities, including Sandy Munro and his team.
During the firm’s Cybertruck teardown, Munro & Associates discovered an open high-voltage pin that they could not explain. Munro Live asked top Tesla executives to explain the use of this high-voltage line.
Even though the Tesla executives did not respond, the answer came thanks to an eagle-eyed X user who uncovered official Tesla information posted in plain sight.
When looking up the connector pins inside the Tesla Cybertruck service manual, he discovered that the pin is indeed an inductive charging header.

Together with Tesla’s previous teasers hinting at wireless charging capability and the high voltage pin being discovered during a teardown, this all but confirms that Tesla has designed the Cybertruck with wireless charging capabilities in mind.
Having said that, it appears that, as of writing, Tesla has not included all the necessary components needed to allow the Cybertrucks currently being delivered to customers to charge wirelessly.
However, Tesla has left the possibility to add such a capability to later builds with minimal work, and the EV maker may even give current Cybertrucks wireless charging capability through a retrofit sometime in the future.

Even more excitingly, this suggests that Tesla will soon roll out wireless charging capability to the company’s entire vehicle lineup, including the Model S, the Model 3, the Model X, and the Model Y.
This should be especially useful in our level 5 autonomous future, where drivers will no longer be present inside vehicles to plug in their vehicles.
Currently, this is all the information we have regarding Tesla's introduction of wireless charging capabilities to Cybertruck and the rest of the company’s lineup. However, we’ll be sure to keep you posted when we receive more information about Tesla’s plans.
