The Cybertruck is unlike any other vehicle that came before it; as a result, it’s difficult to put the all-electric truck into one neat category.
Since Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck in 2019, there have been debates on whether the all-electric vehicle can be considered a real truck.

Tesla detractors have labeled the Cybertruck as merely a truck for wealthy suburbanites on the Coasts or a vehicle for soccer moms to drive their kids back and forth from school.
Most people who characterize the Cybertruck in this fashion do so to undermine Tesla’s claim that the company has created a compelling truck.
After all, the truck market is the most profitable auto segment in the US, and Tesla detractors, by labeling the Cybertruck “not a truck,” are claiming that Tesla doesn’t have a vehicle that can compete in the largest vehicle segment.
Most Tesla enthusiasts vehemently defend the Cybertruck against criticisms that it’s not a serious work truck; however, Tesla appears to be embracing the fact that the Cybertruck is a vehicle favored by moms.
During the company’s latest X post, Tesla highlighted a video by @Techiedani, a mom, tech enthusiast, and Cybertruck owner.
Throughout her video, Dani makes several arguments supporting “why the Cybertruck is the perfect mom and family vehicle.”
Some of the Cybertruck features Dani highlighted to support her claim include…
- A huge back trunk that can fit about four strollers
- With the tonneau cover, you never have to worry about your kid’s stuff getting wet or your groceries – everything stays nice and dry
- The doors open wide a full 90 degrees, making it easy to load the kids
- Plenty of interior room for kids and to carry the whole family
- Kids get their own rear screen to control the temperature, music, and play a show
- Another great mom feature is all the space in the Cybertruck which is perfect for a diaper bag or a purse
- A hidden compartment to put your valuables in
- Best of all, you look like a total badass driving your kids around in the Cybertruck

Dani has highlighted several important Cybertruck features that make the truck a very useful addition to any family.
What additional Cybertruck features make the truck ideal for moms?
In addition to ample storage and interior space, the Cybertruck has some important features that make it a good choice for moms.
The Cybertruck is the first vehicle to feature a steer-by-wire variable gain steering system. This means the Cybertruck, unlike virtually every other vehicle on the road, doesn’t have a mechanical link between the steering wheel and the wheels and tires.
Rather, the Cybertruck uses motors mounted between the wheels to steer the vehicle. A computer measures the steering wheel input, and the data is transmitted through a wire to the independent motors, hence why it’s called a “steer-by-wire” system.
From a technology perspective, aircraft are maneuvered in the air using a steer-by-wire system, and Tesla, with the Cybertruck, is bringing next-generation tech to the automotive world.
This is exciting on its own; however, in practical terms, using a steer-by-wire system allows Tesla to fine-tune the steering based on vehicle speed.
At low speeds, for example, while doing a u-turn or maneuvering in a tight parking lot, a small steering wheel input causes a large wheel rotation, allowing easy maneuverability.
However, at high speeds, the Cybertruck can be programmed to be less responsive to steering input so as not to be jerky and cause accidents. This feature is only possible due to Cybertruck’s steer-by-wire system.
Thanks to the steer-by-wire system, the Cybertruck’s steering wheel lock-to-lock also only rotates 170 degrees, eliminating the need for hand-over-hand steering wheel input.
As if all these weren’t enough, the Cybertruck also features rear-wheel steering, making it even easier to maneuver.
Add to this all the inherent advantages of electric vehicles over internal combustion vehicles, including the fact that the vehicles don’t spew out toxic gases and can easily be charged at home. The Cybertruck looks like the perfect vehicle for moms.
This is all good and well; however, it also raises an important question.
Is the Cybertruck a real truck?
So far, we’ve seen how good the Cybertruck is for moms; however, does that mean the vehicle had to compromise on features that make it a real work truck or an off-road vehicle?
To answer this question, let’s look at the specs. The Cybertruck has a full-sized 6-inch bed. As mentioned above, this could carry four strollers at a time; however, with the tailgate open, the Cybertruck bed can also easily carry eight-by-four plywood or other work material.

The Cybertruck also has the highest ground clearance of any production truck, with over 17 inches. This makes the Cybertruck ideal for use in off-road situations for work or fun.
The Cybertruck also has ample power and is rated to tow over 11,000 pounds and haul over 2,500 pounds.
What is the verdict? Is the Cybertruck a “mom car” or a work truck?
Using innovative technology, Tesla appears to have created a truly no-compromises vehicle that’s ideal for hauling kids back and forth from soccer practice and for use in serious work sites.
This shows that great engineering can create a product ideal for seemingly opposite tasks. Tesla appears to have hit a home run with the Cybertruck.
Currently, this is all the information we have on the various Cybertruck use cases in the real world; however, we’ll be sure to keep you posted as soon as we receive further information.
