Trying to Use My Tesla Cybertruck for Work, but Struggling with all the Attention

A Cybertruck owner in Austin, Texas, is seen trying to use his Cybertruck for his electrical installation business. However, people instantly approach him and start recording him and his Cybertruck with their video cameras out.

So far, we have seen countless celebrities take delivery of their brand new Cybertruck and all the interesting ways they have modified their truck to make it stand out even more than it already does.

If you are in that spectrum and trying to drum up as much attention as humanly possible wherever you go, the Cybertruck certainly works like a charm.

But what if you're not a celebrity, and you are just a regular person who bought a Cybertruck as a practical tool for your job site needs?

If you fall into this category, be prepared for the unprecedented levels of attention the Cybertruck will thrust upon you.

This is the situation one Tesla Cybertruck owner in Austin finds himself in. Gail Alfar shared the video on X; as you can see, a Cybertruck towing a tool cart is seen in front of a construction job site.

The Cybertruck is carrying ladders and other job site-associated tools. Two electricians are inside the truck using their Cybertruck as part of their work day. As she records the individuals and their Cybertruck, Gail Alfar notes…

“These guys are actual workers, and they told me they are with an electric company, and they are attracting a lot of attention because of their Cybertruck. It’s an electrical company that does electrical work, and they are going to have their Cybertruck wrapped next week. They are working on houses in Austin.”

We can’t fault Gail for her enthusiasm. It’s always interesting to see regular people using their Tesla Cybertruck to accomplish real truck work. Given the Cybertruck’s unconventional design, it certainly livens up any situation.

However, it’s also worth questioning how you would feel if people approached you and started recording you every time you are on a job site and are just trying to get your work done.

In the case of the Austin electricians who drive a Cybertruck, they did not appear to be too bothered by the attention; however, a lot of people would not be happy to be in the same situation.

After talking to the Cybertruck owners, Gail notes that these are “actual workers” who are simply using their Cybertruck to do truck work. However, in addition to filming them and interviewing them during job hours, Gail also notes that they have been attracting a lot of attention from other passersby.

Again, this is not to criticize Gail in any way; I would probably do exactly the same thing if I were in her situation; however, it’s always good to know from the perspective of the Cybertruck owner what kind of attention they will face if they purchase the truck.

Personally, I think the Cybertruck is the best vehicle in the world; however, the level of attention it attracts is one of the biggest complaints I have about the vehicle.

Having said that, like anything, the overwhelming level of attention has some advantages as well as disadvantages. For example, if you have a company you want to advertise, the Cybertruck is the perfect moving billboard.

So far, we have seen many new Cybertruck owners wrap their Cybertruck with their business details, and it’s not hard to imagine that their businesses have grown because of that.

By the end of the year, Tesla is planning to reach a Cybertruck production run rate of 130,000 trucks per year, and the overwhelming attention may die down once the vehicles become more readily available.

Overall, we’re happy to see that the Cybertruck still commands this level of attention even six months after it started deliveries, and close to 15,000 Cybertrucks have hit the streets.

This is all the information we have currently; however, we’ll be sure to keep you posted on Cybertruck’s progress going forward.

So, what do you think? Are you surprised to see how much attention the Cybertruk generates on a job site? Do you think this makes the Cybertruck less of a real truck? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below by clicking the red “Add new comment” button.
