Shopping for the Greenest Cars Today
There are a lot of reasons for buying the cars we choose. However, for those wanting to make a difference in the World today, many car shoppers are looking for models that promise to have the smallest carbon footprint. In response to the public and customer demand---and a recent proposal by the EPA that would increase federal vehicle emissions standards and improve air quality significantly---manufacturers are heeding the call and are at work on designing vehicles that produce the cleanest emissions.
But don’t think that you have to necessarily go electric. In fact, in a recent listing by the good folks at Consumer Reports under their “Green Choice” category, they are letting consumers know which vehicles make up the top 20 percent of new vehicles on the market with the cleanest emissions that includes electric, Hybrid and gas-powered models!
According to Consumer Reports:
This rating was developed in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay program, which rates vehicles for levels of greenhouse gas and smog-forming emissions.
To further guide shoppers, we filtered the Green Choice vehicles to list just those that earn a Consumer Report’s recommendation, factoring in road-test performance, reliability, owner satisfaction, and safety.
That said, here is the complete listing provided below. For additional information about each model, be sure to check the Torque News sidebar under “Automotive Brands” and/or try the search engine for the latest reviewed info available on the site.
