Ship Turned Back Last Quarter For Tesla Vehicles
A ship carrying about 6,000 Tesla vehicles was sent back to Shanghai, from an Australian port last quarter, and the reason is quite bizarre.
The reason, according to the Canberra Times in Australia, is:
A plague of stink bugs has been found onboard
This is unfortunate (and bizarre) for Tesla to have this happen as it means those vehicles were not able to be delivered for Q4 2023. Still, Tesla had a record-breaking quarter despite this unfortunate event.

The ship, The Glovis Caravel, has a capacity of 6,500 vehicles, according to The Canberra Times, and had been circling off the coast of Brisbane for weeks as the ship was fumigated by the crew.
There was no mention of the exact number of Model Y and model 3 vehicles on board, just that there was a mix of these two vehicles.

What Else Happened?
According to the Canberra Times:
The Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry confirmed there were live Yellow Spotted Stink Bugs found onboard the Glovis Caravel, in addition to other biosecurity risks.
No word of what the other biosecurity risks were was mentioned. For reference, a yellow spotted stink bug looks like this:
I would assume that the biosecurity risk comes from the stink bugs on the ship. It was also reported that:
The vessel became subject to biosecurity control upon entry into Australian territory. The Department understands that the vessel has left Australian territory in order to manage the biosecurity risk associated with the goods.

The ship was turned back and was required to undergo further processing at Shanghai before returning to the Australian port.
Tesla responded with these comments to those who registered vehicles that were turned back:
"Thank you again for your patience, we understand this has been a disappointing experience.
"However, we want to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to minimise the impact to you."
Tesla is reported to be working through reassigning orders for people who had a vehicle on board the Glovis Caravel ship and are getting a new VIN.
This is supposedly the second time this particular ship has been turned back as in 2018, 600 stink bugs were found with 12 still alive...

What do you think about this ship that was turned from the Australian port for having stink bugs? Will Tesla fix this situation so it doesn't happen again?

$TSLA (+0.6% pre-mkt) delivered 484.5K vehicles in 4Q, easily beating the 4Q IR-compiled WS consensus of 480.5K. 4Q delivs could have exceeded 490K if a boat with 5-6K vehicles were not turned back from Australia because of stink bug infestation late in the quarter.

Troy Teslike thinks it wasn't 6,000 vehicles on this ship. Who is right here, Troy, or Gary Black?
No, it's the same ship. They kept the ship waiting from Oct 22 to Dec 22. The theoretical capacity of this ship is 6,056 compact cars but in reality, it can carry only 3,972 Model Y size cars but Tesla shares these ships with other brands and they carry 1,150 Teslas on average.
