This Is It - FSD 12.5 Is The Beginning of Tesla's Driverless Robotaxis

Tesla's FSD 12.5 is releasing to customers and the videos are remarkable. This is the beginning of Tesla's driverless robotaxis.

It's Here - The Beginning of Driverless Tesla's With FSD 12.5

Tesla's FSD version 12.5 is showing for the first time, that Tesla is on track to have driverless Tesla robotaxis, and it will be as soon as the end of this year and no later than the end of next year, according to Elon Musk.

Based on the videos I'm seeing of FSD 12.5, I'm inclined to believe him as the step change in progress this year has been staggering. There are numerous reports of flawless drives over many hours and in very difficult circumstances like construction taking down 3 lanes of traffic.

Julianna, a Tesla owner had this to say about FSD 12.5:

Wow. Just wow. Downloaded FSD v12.5 last night. Drove 1 hour from Lake Tahoe to the Reno airport and 1 hour back over a mountain pass, along steep grades and curves, through construction and a congested airport.

FSD v12.5 is incredibly smooth — lane keeping was perfect, attention monitoring was perfect, speed control was perfect, navigating exposed mountain switchbacks, complicated construction, crazy airport traffic, traffic signals — all perfect! You get the idea — FSD v12.5 was perfect! It drives like a human but way better than a human.

When there are reports that FSD is driving better than a human, you know that something special is happening and Tesla is getting close to having driverless Tesla vehicles. Why? Because cars that drive better than humans will save lives.

Joey, another Tesla owner, had this to say about FSD 12.5:

This moment marked a TURNING POINT for FSD. (12.5).

Scenario: Construction was blocking the right three lanes, and the car needed to make a right turn. It navigated the construction perfectly, assertively making the turn exactly where there was a gap.

My dad and I both audibly gasped when it happened for the first time. He asked me to turn the car around so we could capture it on video.

After it successfully navigated the turn a second time, he looked at me and said, “I’m jealous that you have it on your car. I want it on mine.”

I watched this video a few times and the car successfully handled 3 lanes of traffic closing and then made a correct right turn after it all. It was remarkable.

Bradford Ferguson, yet another Tesla owner, had this to say about his FSD 12.5 experience.

IT IS DONE.

My friend's Tesla on v12.5 just drove us around flawlessly for 2 hours.

50 miles on city streets. It drove _better_ than I can, smoother on acceleration, no flinches or hesitations.

No disengagements, and I only did one accelerator press to have it go faster.

Stopping is smoother. It goes smoother from the creep, no stopping a second time. Stopping at lights and stop signs is smooth.

My only minor quibble is I wouldn't slow down as late for speed bumps, but that's it.

Over 2 hours of driving! That's the only flaw and that's just a difference in preference.

It was a boring, drama free drive. I can now 100% see why Elon is thinking more about unsupervised self-driving. We're here! They've done it.

More and more videos - and evidence are popping up like this, showing just how far Tesla has come with FSD. Though it may be late according to Elon's promises, it is definitely happening and happening right before our very eyes.

I can't wait to see the incremental step change versions and then version 12.6

I also look forward to when Hardware 3 vehicles, like those before 2024, will get the new FSD version 12.5.
