Tesla Sales In the U.S. Dwarf the Competition

For the first half of 2023, Tesla has dominated sales in the U.S. The Model Y is the best selling vehicle.

Tesla EV Sales: First Half of 2023

The first half of 2023 showed Tesla in the lead for EV sales in the U.S. and it wasn't even close. The Model Y and Model 3 were the top two selling vehicles, with a combined sales of about 213,000.

These two vehicles were #1 and #2 and even the Model X and Model S were #8 and #9 in the list with a combined sales of nearly 24,000. Tesla has 4 of the top 10 top EVs in the U.S. and these are the only EVs that Tesla sells.

Here is the list of top sales:

Some have said that the Tesla Model 3 should be discontinued, but I think this list shows that the Model 3 is still a very important vehicle for Tesla and will be around for a long time.

Tesla could discontinue the Model X and Model S to focus on its top two vehicles, but I don't think Tesla will do that as long as the Fremont, CA factory exists. This factory builds these two vehicles.

Future Vehicles Sales for Tesla

Tesla is going to release the Cybertruck this year in 2023, and I can see that being in this list at the end of 2023 or the first half of 2024.

The reason I see the Cybertruck being in this list is because the Ford F-150 is #10 at 8,757 sales. The Cybertruck has a goal to get to 1 million units sold per year, and it should be able to get to 500,000 units sold in half a year, which is what this list shows.

This will put Tesla even more in the lead with 5 of the top 10 best-selling EVs in the U.S. Pretty much any vehicle Tesla releases will get in the top 10 list.

Future vehicles will include a compact and sub-compact and those vehicles will also break this top 10 list, and that would mean Tesla has 7 of the top 10 best-selling EVs in the U.S. That is a dominating lead.
