A Used 2022 Model Y With Full Self Driving For $45,000

There is a Model Y for sale, and it has full self-driving and costs just $45,000. Is this a good deal?

Used Model Y With FSD For $45,000

There is a website that those who are looking to buy a Tesla and cannot afford a new one might want to take a look at. If you want to buy a used Tesla and get a good price, the website, sellmyusedtesla.com might be the place you want to go.

There is a 2022 Model Y there, and it is being sold for just $45,000 with FSD. If you factor that in, the base price of this vehicle is just $33,000, given that FSD costs $12,000 right now.

The car appears to be in excellent condition and has only been owned by one person. One thing that should be noted is that the website says that there is a 0% battery loss from original, but this is most likely not true. All batteries degrade over time, and a Model Y long range like this one would have some battery degradation after 17,417 miles. I predict that there is at least 5% or more battery degradation, which would make the maximum miles go down from 330 to 314 or so.

The good news is that battery degradation slows down after the first year, and many owners drive a Tesla beyond 100,000 miles without much more than a 10% range loss in the battery.

I think the real value in this vehicle is that FSD is on it. The 2022 Model Y isn't that much different than the 2023 Model Y, so for some, this may be a good entry point to get a Tesla.

Is This a Good Deal?

Let's take a look and see if this is a good deal. One thing to consider is where this vehicle is being sold. The vehicle is being sold in Centennial, Colorado, and Colorado is a state that has a bunch of tax credits for EVs, along with the federal state tax credit. You can get $3,750 still when buying a used EV (half the tax credit), and you can get up to $4,000 off or 30% of the purchase price in Colorado for a used EV.

So, there are still great incentives for buying a used EV in Colorado, but not as much as you would get if you bought a new EV.

A used Tesla as I said up above is also going to have battery degradation and if the owner did a lot of fast charging, most likely there will be more than usual. If you have home charging and primarily will charge that way, and you live in Colorado, then buying a new Model Y or waiting until next year might be a better option.

Still, the FSD on this vehicle is very attractive given that I think Tesla will solve FSD in the next couple of years and this car could be driving around by itself earning its owner income. It could very well be a good investment as a robotaxi when that time comes.

If I lived in Colorado, I think I would seriously consider getting this vehicle if I could afford it.

What do you think about this used Model Y - is it a good deal with FSD on it?
