Designed in California, manufactured in England, and sharing a manufacturing platform with a not-so compact sedan and coupe, that is destined once again to be American Honda Motors best seller, 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback lands at dealerships the last week in September. Read my latest 2017 Honda Civic drive review here.
2017 Honda Civic Hatchback not only marks the return of a Civic platform hatchback variant to North America, the first in the better part of a decade, but (possibly) signals a shift in the market, back to the future if you will -- to a time when the hatchback was the logical replacement for the then behemoth domestic stationwagon.
2017 Honda Civic Hatchback comes to market next week with a beginning MSRP of $19,700 for the base model LX 6-speed manual transmission. That’s an aesthetically pleasing performance bargain.
Turbocharged, suspension tuned, fuel efficient, 5-Star safety
Available in 5 trim variants, all 2017 Civic Hatchbacks will sport Honda’s fuel injected, turbocharged 1.5 Liter VTEC 4 cylinder gasoline engines. Torque transfer is mitigated through either a short-throw 6 speed manual transmission, or Honda’s well received CVT automatic.
Keeping it simple, 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback is front-wheel-drive, you won’t find an all-wheel-drive (AWD) option for Civic Hatchback. Next up: Civic Si and Type-R.On a quest for superior driver and passenger safety
*Available on LX, EX and EX-L Navi trims and standard on Sport Touring4 trim is the Honda Sensing™4 suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies, which includes Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) integrated with CMBS, Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Departure Warning integrated with RDM, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow and Auto High-Beam Headlights (HSS) – a Civic first.
The Civic Hatchback has earned a 5-star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and is anticipated to earn a TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), when equipped with Honda Sensing.
