When the 2017 R8 hits dealers this summer, it will come a with price tag of $164,150 (includes a $1,250 freight charge). Those who keep track will note the base price of 2017 R8 is about $47,000 more than the outgoing R8. There is a reason for that price disparity. The first-generation R8 come with a V8 as its base engine. The second-generation model only comes with a V10.
Not just any V10 mind you. A 5.2L V10 with 540 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. Paired with a seven-speed S tronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive, Audi says the R8 hits 60 MPH in 3.5 seconds and climbs to a top speed of 199 MPH.
Now if you want more power, then the R8 V10 Plus is for you. The 5.2L V10 is retuned to produce 610 horsepower and 413 pound-feet. The 0-60 MPH time is cut 0.3 seconds (3.2 seconds) and reaches a top speed of 205 MPH. The Plus also boasts carbon ceramic brakes, carbon fiber rear diffuser, front lip spoiler, and a rear spoiler that is fixed. You'll be paying a lot more to have the privilege of owning a R8 V10 Plus. Audi says the Plus will start at $191,150.
